badbaz Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Hi all, Come Friday I'll be fully part of the community - and due to the noise, probably no longer part of the one I live in!!!! Made this purchase last weekend And pick her up from Derby on Friday morning. Looking forward to meeting up with some of you guys, learning the important mods and generally being enthusastic about this beastie! Quick story on how it all came about - Been looking on and off for two years now, originally as main car, but now luckily enough as toy. Finally saw 05 plate STi in Sheffield last week in Mitsubishi dealership for good money(I thought) - did a bit of phoning and put on a deposit. You know how things just eat away at you, well made plans to view/buy last Saturday but on Friday afternoon decided to call in a favour and HPi the car. Turns out it's an import - anyway because it's what I've been after for ages I still agree to view, hoping it's mint and the price is going to be right. As cover for the 450miles round trip, check out some other STi's around that area for back up, looking just 50 miles further just in case. Headed of at 6am Sat, straight to see the 05 in Sheffield, what a sin - rough as f... - used by a manager from a car supermarket, no respect, no love, all different tyres, wheels kerbed to death and parking shunts galore. Told them where to shove their import and headed off to Derby. Wow! 55 plate, mint, decent mileage, good balance of warranty left. Shook the guys hand within 10 minutes of seeing the car - never even drove it. Flying down to East Mids airport Friday coming to collect(cheaper than driving)and counting the sleeps - not long. Due to the warranty, unsure about the mods, getting good advice from other forums, but what do you guys think/have had done? Subaru sound is important so who's got what exhaust and who reckons they won't be shot if they come home after 12 one night? Are induction kits worthwhile? Stickers are another thing, sad though it is I would like to sticker it up WRC stylee - anyone share this mad desire - if so where can they be obtained - must be very good quality and replicate the WR car or not interested.
Richie Cross Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Hello and welcome. [Y] Nice looking car. As for exhausts.....I love the sound of my Prodrive....part of the PPP.

sti pretender Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Hi and welcome, have the prodrive backbox on my STI gives a good sound and isn't OTT. Other option is come to the meeting and listen to some cars and find a sound you like.
scoobzie Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 hi friend welcome to the forum u wont find a better place to learn about your scooby than here its information overload nice car u got there cheers scoobzie
jamesm Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Welcome, the new toy looks great. [Y] I have a TSL Gp N back box on my otherwise standard WRX and I find it has a really nice sound to it. Although it came on the car when I bought it, rather than me choosing it. Like mentioned above, head along to a meet and listen to what others have. Mine sounds quiet compared to many! Where abouts are you based?
badbaz Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Thanks for the welcome guys, based in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire - 2 sleeps to go - can't bloody wait!!! May well catch up with a meet and listen to some exhausts!!
scoobaroo Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Welcome to the forum[] Youll enjoy the drive back [Y] Marty.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Welcome to the force..........glad your research paid off. I have been down the following exhaust route in pursuit of the right noise at the right volume :- STi backbox - rubbish WR Sport BB - deep and beefy H&S SCoobySport Classic
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Welcome to the force..........glad your research paid off. I have been down the following exhaust route in pursuit of the right noise at the right volume :- STi backbox - rubbish - I was nieve to fir this but i did get it for free WR Sport BB - deep and beefy........not too loud H&S ScoobySport Classic - like the WR Sport with more of the classic Scooby growl Afterburner - sounded awesome but gave me a head-ache on the motorway and set off car alarms in my work car park I therefore went back to the H&S backbox which is thee best (IMO) for "that growl" @ just a nice volume. Afterburner was ace for the likes of Knockhill but just drew too much attention. I can now leave for work early in the morning without pee'in aff my neighbours too much Video :- http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...84&q=calcam Cheers Cal
boris b Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Nice motor you have bought.... Not many [|-)] to go thou... [Y]
badbaz Posted May 7, 2007 Author Posted May 7, 2007 After an early rise Friday, quick flight to East Mids, short run in a Tribeca (not bad at all) collected her and head home. Initial impressions: 1. Nowhere near quick enough 2. Dealer is a twat (rear shock bushes/mounts u/s, key not coded, not fueled) 3. Strong smell of fuel on cold start - normal? 4. Sticks like sh!t to a blanket 5. Exhaust way too quiet! 6. Annoying rattle from rear parcel shelf area 7. Missed a couple of panel/bumper dings due to STi tinted glasses at time of purchase 8. Still grining! 9. Slightly worried about source of funds for inevitable mods! Looking forward to next meet - long way off tho'
