craig mac Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Folks i feel its my duty to advise you all of a lad on this and other forums that is stotting people up on deals A certain guy i will not name, but will know who it is when he reads this, met me a little over two weeks ago, test drove my car and indeed shook my hand in front of another person, not associated with me, but i knew, on a sale of said car. I have since processed my private plate on to retention at my cost, and the car has sat in the drive since......................... That was 2 weeks ago yesterday. In good faith, the guy in question advise that he would deposit 50% of the funds the following day. I gave him my bank account details to deposit the funds. All i asked for was a grand to secure the car until he had the rest of the funds. However the sale of his car the next day fell through, but still not a penny paid. Granted he has been in touch everyday, but there is always an excuse, and still no payment. I have lost 2 other potential buyers that very night due to this, and now these 2 people have since purchased cars, and needless to say this has left me high and dry, with a deposit paid on another car So please be warned, If someone says they are interested in your car, you travel to Dundee to meet them(he is from Musselburgh), let them drive your car, thinking you have shaken on a deal and your convinced that the deal is done..........Think again. I could name and shame this guy, but that is not in my nature, i hope the guilt he feels in reading this and he is aware of the fact that my wife and i are expecting our first baby in 8 weeks, hence change of car!! Is enough to help him change the errors of his ways. He may prove me wrong yet but i some how doubt it very much. I am sure the very respected member of ss who met us that night in Dundee will also add his remarks to this, Just to back this up. PS. Anyone in the market for a well set up 05 Impreza STI?
Jamis Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Not good min but lets hope you get everything sorted, hate people like that as i've had it done to me before.

kloon Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Think it's time he came up with more than just text's min. Time you gave him a deadline of very soon, dosh or no car, end of.
imprezapete Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I would tell him to show you the money before telling you that again! Sorry to here about that Craig

Mako Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 This is totally unacceptable[:@] I was the other party on the night in question and went along to see the car for a customer I had on the go. As the test drive and the condition and spec of Craigs car appeared to be exactly what the person in question wanted hands were shaken and a deal was done. Not only does it appear that Mr Mac has been put in a terrible position but I have also lost a sale as my customer bought another Sti of similar ilk darn souf.[] I would have bought Craigs car for my guy that night but as I said the deal was done. Even explained to the chap that was why I was there. Craig, I sincerely hope the lad comes good and stands by his word. I know how this type of thing can really p15s you off. Has happened to me a few times over the years and that is why I now have to ask people for a deposit (hate doing it) or the car is not sold. Hope to hear good news from you soon Russ
sti pretender Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Good advice for sellers is if no cash is handed over as a deposit the car is still for sale. If the rest of the cash doesn't appear you have some compensation. Bad news that your good faith is abused.[:@] Hope your buyer has some honour.
colzo Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Hate people like that. You either want it or you don`t, but you don`t give people false hope by shaking on a deal then not going through with it. Hope everything sorts its self out quick. [:@]
iainc Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 True, if I was buying a car (even if I had to then sell my own one) I'd have cash ready for it. You can't expect someone else to wait around until you get your own car sold. Obviously I dunno what you were hoping to sell your car for but I'd give them until Friday this week and unless you have a grand or two in your bank by then they have lost the option on the car and you sell to someone else. That way they've had the best part of 3 weeks to come up the with the cash, if they can't manage that then they aren't likely to in future either IMO. It's possible though that the guy has had other issues but if that were the case you would imagine that they would say sorry but I can't anymore as soon as they know it's not likely to go ahead and not string you along for so long.
WUZ Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Gutted for you Craig.......................this is not on! He's done everything he has to help the guy out, travelled to see him, let him drive the car, etc and still no resolution to the issue. If he had an incling that he couldn't ge tthe money for some reason, WHY SHAKE HANDS ON IT! If you don't have the money, you don't go looking for the car! Hope Craig gets this sorted out ASAP! Russell
dan_jess Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I can imagine it being a tad annoying. However, i doubt the guy is going to want the car now after the way he has been talked about on here.
craig mac Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Thank you everyone for your comments. However the guy in question, is still telling me he wants the car, and if this is so, i will be forced to eat humble pie, and i will be the first to apoligise for this. But until i see some commitment from him i am sort of in limbo............ If he wants the car like he continues to say he does(and i hope he does) I will buy him a beer, shake his hand again and will give a full public apoligy. In the mean time i have to sit, wait and continue to give him that benifit of the doubt. I am man enough to say sorry to anyone, and will do so if and when funds are received. I see myself as an easy going bloke, and trusting too, and i still hold hope that i will in fact receive some funds from him in the near future. On the face of all this, the lad, my first impressions are that he is trust worthy and i do somehow feel he will still come good, he has had the chance to say no i dont want the car, but has point blank said he wants it. Lets see what happens and there is a speedy and happy end to this whole situation.
WUZ Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I can imagine it being a tad annoying. However, i doubt the guy is going to want the car now after the way he has been talked about on here. Dan - if I thought the gent in question had been on here, read this and not contacted Craig by means other than Text Messages then I for one would think Craig had every right to feel how he does. TBH - I feel that Craig will honour his post and will publicly apologise to the guy when (or IF) he concludes the deal. Good luck Craig. Russell ps - if he wants to pass on this machine over a few words then he is a fool! - this car rocks and is worth any amount of aggro once you've been for a run in it!.........I SHOULD KNOW[:|]
roy_hall Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 craig - his loss m8 shame you lost out on selling elsewhere, won't be a difficult car to shift [] raggy end o a pineapple springs to mind[8o|]
Alan-G Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 If he wants the car like he continues to say he does(and i hope he does) I will buy him a beer, shake his hand again and will give a full public apoligy. Why the apology Craig, HE's the one who should apologise [8-)]
