I'm on my way to Faslane....looking for contacts...

I posted previously saying hello (http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/871558.aspx) and now I'm on my way to Faslane.  We are currently enroute and should arrive on the 20th.  I am stuck on the ship on the 21st, so I can't leave and then we should leave monday morning.  So, I have no plans Friday or Sunday.  I'd like to meet up with as many local Subaru owners as possible to visit, have you show me your lovely countryside, and hopefully see/ride/drive your even lovier Scottish Subarus  :P  My internet connection on the ship sucks really bad, so the best way to contact me is to email me at schunckr@ddg58.navy.mil for correspondance though I will check this post as often as I can.  If anyone is interested in meeting up, please email me with your contact information so I might be able to call you to arrange a meeting.  I'm also interested in possibly visiting a local Subaru dealer to see if I can get my hands on a 12mm oil pump for one of my friends back in the States if that's at all possible on Friday.  I have no clue as to where the nearest dealer is in relation to Faslane, so I'm not sure if that can happen or not.  Maybe someone can let me know if that is a possiblility or not for Friday depending on how far the closest dealer is.  With my luck though, I could go there, but they wouldn't have the pump in stock anyway.

The part I'm looking for if anyone can check availability and pricing before I get there is the 12mm oil pump part number 15010AA270.  If anyone can see if one is in the area and what the price is, I would appreciate it.

If you haven't gone there yet, can you see if they can order it if it's not in stock?  Not sure how dealers are there, but in the United States they can order and receive anything from the warehouse and if you don't want the part, they just send it back to the warehouse and no one is out anything for doing so.  That's really helpful when you want to have a dealer with a part in stock just in case you screw something up during an install.  Not that I have done that or anything.......;)

OK folks, I was at S&S today and their parts guy has no record of the 15010AA270 on his system, the closest he could come up with was the 15010AA280, which has been superseeded by the 15010AA300, all he could tell me that it was an oil pump for an EJ25 engine, does anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you for checking for me, but I need the 15010aa270 or the 15010aa310 model which is the rare 12mm unit.  The part numbers mentioned are for the 10mm unit.  The reason I need one is for a friend of mine that will be running a built 2.5L motor.  He's a little nutty.....he has probably the only running twin turbo Subaru in America.  :D

Can we just clarify something? Is this a friendly visit from the US Navy or are you invading? Just a bit nervous as we know what Dubya is like with countries that have oil. [:(]

Very good point

I will cancel the order for the banner that i was going to drape over the Kilcreggan slipway

"THE SS WELCOMES THE UNABOMBER"

Although you could drop one or two arnaments on England if you are bored on the approach to the Firth of Clyde

We are participants in a exercise with the Royal Navy called Neptune Warrior.  I guess it's hosted and held several times a year by the Royal Navy.

Hopefully I'll see you folks sometime on Friday.  The arrival time is 100% unsure as I've heard an early morning arrival and I've heard us arriving as late as 5 p.m., so I'm not sure when I'll be there.  I guess there is also a tree-hugger group there called Faslane 365 that holds regular protests over nuclear weapons.  If those idiots come out and make a mess, we probably won't pull in at all.  So I guess we'll have to play it by ear as to when/if I pull in or not.

A banner with my username on it would probably not go over well.  ;)  I'd think it was funny, but man would that cause a stir.

According to the latest schedule, I will now be able to leave the ship on Saturday and Sunday.  They moved the duty sections (duty is where you have to stay on the ship for 24 hours) around and now the day we pull in on Friday, I have to be stuck on the ship that whole day.  So, if anyone wants to meet up, it will have to be on Saturday or Sunday.  If anyone would like to help this poor Subaru owner meet some people or sponsor me for a little tour of your country, please send me your mobile number to schunckr@ddg58.navy.mil and I'll give you a bell when I'm free.  So far Graeme sent me his number and said he was going to try to set something up for Friday, but that day has to change as I can no longer leave the ship on friday.
