Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Spent 6hrs with a G3 rubbing compound then polished the whole car with MER i couldn't believe how much grime and tar came off the paint it looks and feels a lot better[H] Stevie
colzo Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Looking good mate. I clayed my car recently, what a difference. You notice more tar spots etc on light coloured cars but once they`re cleaned up they look great! []
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Cheers i need to buy an electric buff for the next time though[H] Stevie
scoobyiain Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 It's not any quicker using a machine polisher, it actually takes much longer but you get far better results. I can hand polish a car in about 1 hour but it would take me approx 6-8 hours with my pc.
thewelsho Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 It looks really good, but not 6 hours worth good! You poeple are cracked or have WAY too much time on your hands. Most time I ahve spent cleaning my car is about 3 hours and that was everything, including a aching back. Soap and water'll do me fine thanks!
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 TBH mate it's the first time i've polished the car since i got it last year and probably won't do it again for a while, was worth it though, damn front end was covered in flies after my run up to Braemar on sunday. Stevie

Your car would be a pain to do with the decals so i don't really blame you
cusco kid Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 hi dz if you coat your car with teflon polish the tar wont stick and you can wash your car with just cold water regards geo

The one time I did it this year I jsut did the lot. It looks good for 5 minutes then you drive and its square one. My favourite thing to do (well effect) is putting that shiny stuff on the tyres, that looks sooo cool!
scoobyiain Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Tyre shine is cool, although i got carried away when i was younger and put it on the whole tyre. Needless to say it was like driving on ice for a while [:$]
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 I get a polish from my work that does the same job as tyre shine and it also does any black trim as well and it's free [Y] Stevie

fai17 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Car looking real good.... Just waxes mines today too and what a shine
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks mate it was a long job but worth it,and after my run to Braemar on sunday i got rid of all the flies. Stevie
dougster Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Nice job Stevie and I am sure it was worth the effort. People do not realise the damage they are doing to their cars by neglecting to take care of the paintwork properly. Their loss.
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Thanks Dougs it was worth it ,it felt really rough b4 i started but now it feels like glass got to try a polisher the next time though my bro did his TT Supra with one and the finish is totally brilliant,he used meguires polish on his after the G3 compound. Stevie
dougster Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 This was purchased with 75k on the clock and was almost a yellow/white before I detailed it. (Please note no teflon was used in this production....) Now in this.... Which has 14k on it but in need of some attention due to swirl marks, paint defects and lower body tar/road grime marks.
Double Zero Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Doug's that wagon looks minted mate & although i'm not a fan of audi's it looks the dog's dangle's mate[Y] Stevie
