petermorling Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Hey people i just went and changed my spark plugs today, (anybody got a first aid box....) when i fired it up it seems to have a slight misfire when you push the throttle from idle. When the plugs were changed 4,000 miles ago 3 coil packs were replace, however when i took out the plug at the rear left hand side the plug was very sooty could this be the coil pack that wasnt replaced last time? Any help or advise would be gratefully appriciated. Many Thanks Peter
david_taylor Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Cant help with the technical question. But out of interest, why are you changing your plugs after 4000 miles? Dave
cullenmin Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Are your plugs definately in the right place? ie Doing one plug at a time ensures that they are put back in the right place Rich
petermorling Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 yip, i've done plugs a million times before, it was doing the misfire before the plug change, i am changing them as it has been over a year since they were changed and for the sake of £25 its pice of mind.
euan_r Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 if u suspect coil pack u could try wrapping some electrical tape round the rubber of it, as this is what normally deterioates i believe.
petermorling Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 thanks i think i'll give that try tomorrow, it can't do any harm... [:S]
