Another Remap / decat question

Started the ball rolling by ordering the whiteline stuff and hopefully some struts once Gus gets his PM.

Now for the decat.  Have been searching the forums but mostly finding stuff relating to newage so just want to clarify a few points for a classic wagon with PPP

1) Believe the centre section has already been replaced so dont need a decat centre?

2) The system will be 2.5" so looking at H&S Sport Cat is a waste of time leaving only the Ninja SportCat from Scoobyworld as an option? (and tbh at 1/2 the price more realistic)

3) It will be fine without an immediate Remap

4) Leaving the Prodrive back box on will mean the sound does not change much?

5) Do I need anything else such as fuel pump / regulator etc?

Cheers

So anyone know the best sport cat downpipe to match existing PPP exhasut and will it change the noise much?

Sorry i cant help with the exhaust Alan but you would be better with a fuel pump but you wont need a fpr.

What kind of figures are you after, you keeping the same turbo ?

Why not just decat the down pipe for better gains and put on a standard mid section for the MOT.

Hi Alan,

I have a TSL Thundercat Sports Cat. ...it's the same shape as the classic one but fits my Scoobysport BB. It is slightly louder than PPP purely because it's allowing more gas flow. It's not a cheap item to buy but come MOT time it's hassle free........I have had a full H&S decat in the past and there was no negligible difference between the two. You can still hear the turbo spooling up nicely too

Been looking at that one aswell but not sure if it was worth the extra 95 quid and also thought it might be 3" system, decision decisions!

Have asked AndyF if he thinks a fuel pump would be required for this, Dont have any target as such - the more the better without making too many mods such as changing the turbo.

Unless you plan to go above 300 bhp I would stick with the 2.5" systems. I would also go for the fuel pump because mine is on the limits at 280 bhp.

For the sake of £70 it well worth it

Andy recomended the Walbro 255 (£95 @ Scoobyworld - is it another type you are talking about at 75 or am I shopping in the wrong place) and also NGK PFR7B plugs & The Samco intercooler pipe kit.  Trying to find where to get these from.

Not sure if he can supply and fit these(?) and also wondering if the PPP hasnt already replaced the same intercooler pipes and if so is it worth the £75?

Cheapest place for Samcos I found was :-

http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/advan...ds=samco+subaru

Groupbuy on Walbro's on SN too

If you are getting a Sportscat or decat downpipe I strongly recommend decatting the up-pipe too which is pre-turbo. May as well do this when you have the downpipe off

and access to the turbo. If you dont you'll only have to did it later when you get "the bug" even more.

Let us know how you get on

Regards

Have mailed the Snet guy about the fuel pumps now.  Also it would appear I dont need the Samco stuff afterall since the car has PPP.

Thought the up pipe was more of an issue in newage and not really worth bothering about in a classic? Have to go back and recheck that one.

Another though - does anything need heat wrapped?

Cheers folks!
