gus the bus Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Folks gonna get my wheels so what size of tyres should I be going for on 17's is it 205/40 or 215/40 on the classic? just looking for confirmation Someone said something about possible rubbing with the 215's is that correct. It will be getting lowered on whitelines also this week(ish) so might be better on the slightly narrower tyres !!? Cheers for your help[Y] Gus
Jamis Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Hi gus mine is running 215/40/17s and most of the classics that come in to my work run 215's.Hope this helps? How low are you lowering it by?
gus the bus Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Thanks mate. any rubbing problems? I think Geo said 25-30mm on the Whitelines. Gus
Jamis Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 No rubbing at all m8 even fully loaded with people she dont rub. Jim
wrxmania Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 215/45/17's is what I am going for - after doing reading, browsing, asking (including Extreme Motorsport) they said the 45 profile every time. The wisdom seems to be the handling and comfort is just that bit better - one even said the 40 profile was madness when a 45 will fit. My car is pretty low as it is and my flaps sit almost on the ground - they scrape on the pavement lip (which is dipped) to my driveway [] I am looking for 45's although the 40's are a good bit cheaper. gus the bus Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Brian, I'm deffo sticking with 40 profile. Had 45's on my last classic and under load they always rubbed on the arch liner.[:S] Gus
gus the bus Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Your choice mate but just going on my previous experience[]
fai17 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 205/45/17 as per P1 or 215/40 it's what classic should use.
wrxmania Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 True - just done lots of searching and asking suppliers - and they said 215/45 as it will fit and improves the comfort aspect. I'll be going 215/40/17 due to the suspension height and travel I have.
