stevie 4 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 i have a 93 import and failed my mot on emmissins and nothing else. the guy tried very hard but just could not get them to pass. the guy has said to me that he thinks it is probably the lamda sensor from the readings. the car has no mods except from a d/v, panel filter and a s/s excaust from cat back. can anyone point me in the right direction to somewhere where i can get the correct lambda sensor for my car for as little money as possible
cupradave Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 you will have to wire it in yourself as it is a universal one http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/lambda-sensors.php OE ones are just too expensive
wilky Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Your car is an import and the law states that imports made before Aug 95 dont need a cat, same as a UK car built before Aug 93. Granted your car may be running a bit rich with the lambda issue, but when thats sorted you shouldnt fail if you are in that catagory. Callum
stevie 4 Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 complete noob question again but is it the four wire sensor i need
cupradave Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 think you will find its a 3 wire but get your head under the bonnet and check []

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I am not sure but would shoving a recirc dv back in make the car run less rich ? Might be worth trying as it is very easy to change over. I might be talking nonsense though but it does affect the fueling assuming your DV is a VTA CGS

I might be talking nonsense though but it does affect the fueling assuming your DV is a VTA CGS thats fit i was thinking too. perhaps thats why lambda is on the way oot. edit: would have been tested under no load though.[:$] of course emission test would be carried out under strict idle as well [] []
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Meant to add that the cat will be heavily polluted too if the car has been running rich. Cat will be less efficient basically How warm was the engine when it was tested ?
stevie 4 Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 the car was not to hot as i never got a chance to take for a run before hand and the mot station is only a 10 minute drive away. i'm going to put the original d/v back on as the one on is a dta, change the lambda and put some cataclean through it and keep my fingers crossed
