JamesF Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Tried Gary at Keith Michaels and he qouted £850 fully comp but was wondering who everyone else uses so I can shop around. I've got an 18g turbo, sti injectors etc, car putting out around 360bhp now. Who do you use ??? James.
cupradave Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Try giving A-plan a shout, personally cant fault thier service. I originally insured my WRX as just me and for social and pleasure only but recently added my wife to the policy and changed the policy to include commuting and all they charged me was a £15 admin charge, no change to the premium. They have an online form you just have to fill in and they will call you back http://www.aplan.co.uk/motor/car-insurance-quote.php?int=0
JamesF Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Cheers mate, I'll complete that form now....
cupradave Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Just found a number for you 01635 874 646
david_taylor Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Privilge.com[] Under 500 [] Privledge were great with my previous car, but they wont touch a Subaru without a tracker. Aplan was by far the best quote I had recently.
RS Grant Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Admiral are the dogs danglies for my insurance... With their multi-car policy we've got all the family's cars on the one policy, with everyone getting their own NCB but all benefitting from the discount from insuring 5 cars through them, plus, they dont mind that the cars arent all kept at the one address as we dont all live together. [H] Cheers, Grant
dipsy Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 dtabitt77 i had a my00 uk turbo with a few mods insured with privelege and they did not ask about a tracker for that car and i had that car from new.But when i changed to a newage 05 Jdm sti i had to get a tracker fitted.I have been up to now with them for 7years

Maybe because more and more high performance cars are being stolen by them breaking into your house and getting the keys. I called privledge in January for a quote and they would not entertain me without the tracker. Dave
JamesF Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Privelege want £575 but I have to fit a tracker.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Privilege are rubbish for mods. I used to be with them and switched to Keith Moulson with every single mod declared and still saved £200. Total peace of mind is worth it in my opinion...........insurance inspectors are not daft CGS
craig mac Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Privilege are rubbish for mods. I used to be with them and switched to Keith Moulson with every single mod declared and still saved £200. Total peace of mind is worth it in my opinion...........insurance inspectors are not daft CGS They are fully aware of all my mods, in fact they have a declaration form completed by a subaru garage to confirm values etc.Rubbish, far from it. So IMHO they are well worth it.
JamesF Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 It will be the first time that I've actually declared all mods on a car I've owned so I'm expecting to pay a bit more for it. Peace of mind is worth a lot ore that a couple of hundred quid in my opinion. James.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 With Gazza Moulson you fill in a form with all the modified parts. I think he is even decat friendly too. He actually knows every conceivable part. Also they are not fussed with motoring points ( although I have none) which is a bonus when the motorist is being drained in every direction. Privilege wanted £70 from me to fit a backbox.........a total joke ! Even when it was a Subaru WR Sport one. Then when I went to add 18" rims and a few minor other parts is started to turn ugly. That was when I papped them. Other experiences may differ but I am only relaying my own.... My wifes best friend is Head of Car Insurance Marketing for Direct Line ( amonst others under the RBS umbrella) and is very useful for truthful info. Have a read of this too http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3227849.stm Again, I am just speaking from my own experiences. We all know insurance is a rip off and a bit of a minefield Do what feels right for you Jimbo ..... CGS p.s strut braces is another topic to consider. Insurers dont like em as they transfer energy easily and potentially can increase chassis damage etc etc
colzo Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I`m with Priviledge and they insure my 05 sti ppp as standard as I bought the car when Subaru had the free ppp offer. [Y] Think if you have a few mods defo try A Plan or Keith Michaels.
JamesF Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Tried A-Plan and was qouted £740 but they didn't replace on a like for like basis so didn't see the point in that ! Went back to Gary and he reduced his qoute to £770 so was happy with that. Thanks to Gary and all who recommended him. James.
arch Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 James how are things, BB still looking good and now heading down the mod route. I am with Privilege, they wanted a tracker but standard 55 plate WRX fully comp protected £390. I phoned them last week to get a quote for mods. They were not really into specifics but with an uprated exhaust (as they put it) engine mods, larger TMIC, remap and a power increase of 20% they quoted an extra £75 for the remaining 8 months of my policy. Excess would go up £200, they really only seemed interested in the percentage power increase with general info on what would be done. You may be hit harder though because your percentage power increase would be much bigger. [Y]
JamesF Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Alright mate, sorry for taking so long to get back to you, been busy. Glad to hear the zorst is still good, never had any reason to thin otherwise mind you. Based on the standard WRX 225bhp I've got an increase of over 60% (after my next remap she'll be sitting at 360ish) so it's a bit of an insurance killer. I went with Gary mostly because he knows scoobs and they replace like for like so if my wheels get nailed in an accident I dont end up with standard WRX alloys again etc. I've got a blue Prodrive intercooler hose sitting in my shed you can have if your going to do a bit more modding. James.
fai17 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Just got a renewal price from Gary Moulson and it was £595 which is £55 less than last year[Y] I'm well happy with them[] Thank you Gary if you are ready this.
scoobaroo Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Under 500, with both Keith M. and A-Plan just to sort out the small print before i decide which to go for. Privelage 1100 [:@] All mods declared [] Marty.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Gary Moulson is the main man ! It's a nice feeling knowing that every part of your chariot is fully declred and that he understands what these things are... They must have had a power of business lately but rightly so ! They aint too fussed about points either ( not that it worries me ) CGS
arch Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 James thanks for the offer its appreciated but I have an STI8 intercooler ready to fit but thanks anyway. Get it up for sale and get some money for it. Its a good part to fit so u should have no problems getting someone to take it off ur hands. You are probably right a 60% increase would probably have most of the main insurance comapnies running in the other direction or rubbing their greedy hands together. Will definately check him out when my current policy expires later this year.
