yip its under the altenator. or if u wanted u could just remove the electrical connector. Btw this aint about priming the oil by any chance. Have heard this elsewhere and i wouldnt bother with it IMO.

saw a thread on scoobynet about this. if u want to do it for your own mind then do it. I just fill up new filter a couple of times letting it settle then add oil through filler.

thinking about it a bit more what they are suggesting is to turn over engine without firing it. probably more wearing in itself than just doing the usual setup.

if you can wait til next week, I got a Greddy filter from Graham Goode Racing, thier service is ace and they will have the item in stock and should have it to you in a few days

Dear god!!! For all the time it takes to crank the engine over after disconnecting the crank sensor. It's your car but for the sake of 1 mins work i would rather not risk the cost of a rebuild but suit yourself!!!!

sorry but never heard such a load of *****. have ran and continue too, a lot of high mileage(150K) flat 4s and never had any problems what so ever. do you think this happens in any garage, dealership or otherwise? the difference is nowt either way tbh. its just anal

It is not anal. It has been proven throughout scoobynet that a lot of failures occur within 50-100miles of an oil change. You may have just been lucky that you have not seen any problems but there have been many that have. I say for all the effort of disconnecting 1 plug and cranking it for 30 secs before firing it will not kill you anyway!

Can't say i've ever done anything but primed the filter, filled the engine with oil , started the car and drove away, but i'm no expert.

No oil light came on either, if that matters. ?

Point taken Coulty, i'll try it the next time matey ;)

hi m8 if you value your engine fill your filter to prime it  crank the engine with the sensor disconected then reattach then start up its worth it trust me ask andy f  engine builder  he should know also i do it all the time on my wrx 300 and add teflon which helps with cold starts geo

hi neil teflon is ptfe the non friction  additive for use in engines g/boxes diffs and polishes  its non stick like frying pans for example //////// added to your engine it coats all internal tarts  and lubes bearings in initial start up  till oil preasure comes up therfor no scuffing of surfaces occur  see posts for teflon polish many people have tryed it on this site and love it some have to rubbish it but i will side with the  many posters that like- swear by it  geo[Y]
