B9RY C Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Hey Guys, As you will probably guess i'm new to the SIDC. I'm looking into buying a blob-eye STI but i'm having trouble translating some of the patter. I was looking at a for sale forum, on SIDC, down south and the conversion went like: 'I'm confused about this car, is it a MY04 WRX STi Type UK. It's just that in the UK the first version to get the DCCD was the MY05, but in your pictures the one of the drivers binicle looks like you have DCCD?' What does DCCD and driver binicle mean? This may seem fairly obvious to you wise impreza drivers but hey i'm new! Can anybody help. Thanks Barry
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 DCCD = Driver Controlled Centre DIfferential. the control for this is found on the console between the front 2 seats. Binicle may be a fancy word used for the dials area as cars with DCCD have a display showing what setting the DCCD is on.
st3ph3n Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 DCCD was also an option (about £1K?) on the 04 car, standard from 05 onwards if memory serves me correct. Anyone wish to confirm or deny?
colzo Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 What month was the car registered? Late 04 STIs had the DCCD. Does the car have rear arch extentions?
B9RY C Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Not sure what month the car is registered, possibly late 04 as it has a black STI interior?. From the picutures the car doesn't look like it has rear arch extentions. Thanks for getting back.
st3ph3n Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Easiest way to tell an 05 car is that the cupholders are down at the handbrake, and don't pop out above the stereo. I have a 54 plated car bought in very early december 2004 that is an 05 model. It's easy to tell on the WRXs as they have red calipers.
marky.t.s Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm no oily fingered technician,so ,hi and welcome to the forum mate, hope you get the scoob you want[Y]
scoobyseller555 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Firstly 04 sti didnt have black interior, noticed this car the other night on scoobynet,it has the same interior as the wr1 which isn't correct and wasn't a factory option!dccd was never an option on a pre 05 model year car.Reckon this car, because it is an sti8 with dccd and black interior could very well be a japanese dealer market car. October 2004 is when the dccd 05 car was introduced to the Uk(04/54)refered to as a sti9,this car had wider rear track, longer wheelbase, dccd, smooth style centre console with metallic finish,10 spoke alloy wheels with bridgestone re-o70s,rear arch extentions and red luminescent gauges. Hope this helps Gav
scoobymark Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Not sure if iam right , but new cars from october 2004 (54 plate) / STI9, which has 10 spoke alloys and wider body trim on rear wheel arches then it will have DCCD as standard. Anyway most people with DCCD leave it on auto, so not sure if it is a huge advantage[8-)]
B9RY C Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 Thanks everybody for the advice. Turns out that the car is a euro-import and is registered in Apr 04. Don't know what to do! Insurance would go up £300 a year, but the car is mint! The links bellow prove this: Thanks again.
fai17 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Barry m8 the car indeed is a euro import and it's a minter... £300 extra is f.all if the car brings a smile to your face everytime you drive it[] Life is too short if you don't enjoy it m8.
st3ph3n Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Barry, I have a euro import and pay nothing extra for insurance. Try a different insurer. The only reason I can see for it costing more to insure is if the person who got it didn't get an alarm fitted to the car. UK ones came with it as standard.
B9RY C Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Cheers for the advice mate. The guy is looking for £12600 for it, is that a fair price?. About the insurance thing I only told them about the exhaust I never mentioned the dump vale, splitter or gauges. Do I need to tell them about them, as they are not big modifications? Thanks again mate, total novice with all this. Cheers Barry
scoobyiain Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 That is a good price mate, would tell insurance everything. they are not big mods so should not put price up by much if any
scoobyseller555 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Not only is this car a euro import but it is registered on an Isle of Man plate, this meens that you would need to re-register the car with the Dvla also. A euro import Sti is worth around 10k at this age, remember this car would have been around 19k new,6k cheaper than a type uk new in 04. Hope this helps Gav
scoobyseller555 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 on looking at your pics again are you sure this car is a euro import, and not a jap-spec car, version 8 car but has black dash and dccd, also notice a dawes device under the bonnet, what boost is the car running? Gav
scoobyiain Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/828304.aspx link to car
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 on looking at your pics again are you sure this car is a euro import, and not a jap-spec car, version 8 car but has black dash and dccd, also notice a dawes device under the bonnet, what boost is the car running? Gav Is not a JDM as it is missing one big tell tale sign.............................REAR WASH WIPE!!!!
B9RY C Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Thanks for all the advice with this car but think i'm gonna keep on searching for my dream scooby, just too many questions and hassles with this one. Cheers again lads

ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Good point! although if the car advertised was a spec c then am pretty sure it would be advertised as one and also not have type uk badges on it. My point was (obviously not clear) that the "standard" JDM STI's (excluding special variations) have rear wash wipes.
frank c Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Rear wash wipe..sounds a bit gay to me lol Sorry
