scoobyiain Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 No problem mate, if you want to see a cossie get beat watch craig mac scalp them when he is at crail. You will give it a good run for it's money if he has a standard one like he says, plus it's all about the driver when power is close
cullenmin Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Whats the date for crail, I'd lke to see this race and cheer you on [H] Rich
cullenmin Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Aye lets form a line and kick its a s s! []

philip_wilson Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 A standard escort cosworth (227bhp) will do the 1/4 mile inabout 14.9 with a terminal speed of around 98 mph. you should do ok unless he drives this 11.1 sec one.... then you will need to use jc's car to show him who's boss lol []
cullenmin Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Quote so if the chances r that the cossie is gonna beat me, my question is, wot choice mods can i do to make sure that i dont get beat? nothing to expensive, something cheapish but make my scooby quicker. comments greatfully recieved. fuzzy

That's way slower than I thought it would do it. My standard type r did a 12.9 and it was my first time on the strip.
philip_wilson Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Aye the escort cosworth’s performance in standard form isnothing to write home about really, 0-60 in 5.5 [] and a top speed of 139 mph [] anddepending on what road test you read the 1/4 mile time is anything from 14.3 sto 15 s Make: Ford Mod Model: Escort TrimTrim: RS Cosworth (UK) Transmission Transmission: 5-speed Manual Theoretical Top Speed Top Speed: 139 mph 0-30 - 1.50 s []0-04 - 2.90 s []0–50 - 4.10 s []0-60 - 5.50 s []0-70 - 7.90 s []0-80 - 10.00 s []0-90 - 12.50 s []0-100 - 16.60 s [][] 100ft - 2.70 s500ft - 7.60 s1320 t (1/4 mile) - 14.30 @ 95.5 mph

Yeh and mines done it in 12.86sec[] Good luck with the cossie and get some meths up the boost add OB and lighten you car as much as possible. Are you going up on the 18th feb? Maybe see you there
st3ph3n Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Letstorquebhp.com says an Escort Cosworth in standard trim is 14.37 with a 95.6 Terminal on the road. Slightly less on a high grip drag track (therefore not crail). Not sure which Impreza is closest to fuzzys though.
fai17 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 And don't foget that there is 2 models for the Escort Cossie.... 1.Big turbo model ran a Garrett T3 turbo with standard whale tail. 2.Smal turbo model ran a Garrett T25 turbo which had a small spoiler and optional whale tail. I believe the model to have is the big turbo for dragging and small turbo model for the road with quick spool. Either way you are still going skelp him if it's a standard number.
diffbuster Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Your cheapest options to make a difference may be a dawes device to up the boost but you could hit fuel/boost cut on a 93 most people fit a z5 ecu from a 96 or later to get round this so ask nicely if you can borrow one. methanol will also give you a good performance boost while protecting from det with the higher boost, another cheap way to save a tenth is a quickshift which will also make gearchanges cleaner and lesson the chance of missing a gear these are the cheap mods but can be removed easily when you sell the car.good luck.

scoobyfuzzy Posted February 5, 2007 Author Posted February 5, 2007 yeah peter il be there on the 18th of feb, getting in some practise. fuzzy
cullenmin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I might pop along on the 18th of Feb, maybe we could start a list?!? Rich
