Cleaning up the brakes

Recommended Posts

busy refurbing the calipers now...

a few pistons were very sticky... one was jammed solid (had to bash it free with WD40 and mallet/wood)

For reference..... If you are looking for a caliper service kit just buy it from Subaru UK... half the price of online sellers etc!

Ebay etc is £22 for 1 caliper kit. Subaru was £20 for kit containing seals etc for both front calipers!

Hey Fee - they look very similar to mine when I done them before Christmas - Black4pots.jpg

How did you do your lettering ?? I used a smooth spongy thing,

didn't come out as neat as that though - well done mate[:D]

hardish foam radiator roller. Just make sure you take your time and roll softly, press too hard and you'll have to get the black out again.

They're the same pads as mine too!!!!!!! Getting paranoid now.

I painted the whole caliper black and then using a piece of sponge, wiped off the paint to re-expose the white underneath - I cleaned them thoroughly with brake cleaner first though.
