T123VOR Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Well I should know tomorrow how much they offer me for my Crystal[:'(] And what/whether I can have the bits off her From what they told my missus today I think the price offered includes the mods so sorry Prodrive Tony/MickyW probably not able to get them off for you to buy She reckons he said I could have my stereo and exhaust back though as long as replaced with original and not just ripped out!! I still hyave all the original bits So next time you're down the breakers give her a little hug from me Trevor PS New subaru, used subaru or a £200 banger and a crack and whore 3 week bender [D] ... watch this space[*-)]
HairyDJ Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 If the breakers will be taking her apart for bits, rather than a back-street rebuild, they may be happy to take the original items in their current unattached condition? Hope they give you enough left over for the curry night and some drowning the sorrows liquid[^o)] We get regular threads about how cheap we can get insurance quotes, maybe we should run one on how quickly they settle up and whether they are tightwads or generous? Liverpool Victoria (aka CSMA Frizzells) were quick and reasonable on price when they wrote mine off a couple of years ago, but then they are hitting me for a grand with full guaranteed NCB.
markie Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Hope that this all comes to a satisfactory conclusion for you Trev
Baz69birds Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I would have been swapping them all back the day it happened, that way if it did have to go, you could have made a LITTLE EXTRA, but never mind.
ROAR Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I hope the tight 8astards come good for ya trev.
matthew_buckland Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Sorry to hear she's been written off, Hopefully there'll get it sorted quick [Y] Have you had a letter about the crash barriers yet?
prodrive tony Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Do we know where its going scrappy wise?
T123VOR Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 I'll find out for you Tony- I assume you're after my ultra-rare carbonface UV Blitz gauges that they won't let me take out- grrr - I was going to flog to you mate[] for 10p The price they offered was pretty good- but having spoke to the engineer today I have to leave the gauges, the scoop, wheels, brakes, prodrive springs etc because the price reflects that they are still there as well as the PPP bits too, but i can get the rest out/off as long as it's replaced for the original - which i do have[] So Thurs I'm off to strip the stereo (remember my boot build?) The exhaust- downpipe, centre and backbox (leaving up-pipe on there too much grief to get off) and other little bits BUT will they be going on a new scooby or ebay... Trevor
Guest leebo77 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Quote BUT will they be going on a new scooby or ebay... Trevor, shout me on the downpipe B4 ebaying pls.... cheers mate [Y]
Dalthegooner Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Once they've offered you a price for the motor and you've accepted its a done deal. The cheque goes in the post the same day and the insurance company won't even see it again. Take everything off of it that you can. Tell the breakers that the insurance company said you can have it as they are the ones who will not want you to, if they want to repair the car and sell it through the back door.

Spot on Dal, this will probably end up where my brother inlaw works (charles trent breakers) they deal in very late models of all types of car. If it can be put back on the road then the staff buy them then sorce all parts through the company at very low prices, if it cant be put on the road they will certainly strip it & flea bay the goodies. So take your tool box and original parts & just strip it off[Y] then have your toes away as fast as poss, if the insurance get in contact just deny it[] where has it gone??

Having worked in the trade for a few years i agree thats what happens ! so strip it trev make yourself a shelling or three []
T123VOR Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 I'm hearing you all But the guy was very specific that the price offered reflected the fact it had this and that mod on it- so too risky to strip the lot until i get the cheque in my hand! Trevor
markie Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Bo!!ocks to that i'd be stripping it quick sharp, is it still at the original garage? or have they moved it to a breakers yet?
markie Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Quote Still at garage until Friday are you aloud to take the bits off there then? if so i will come there with you & give you some help if you like. I will of course use my hammer on everything that has to stay on the car[]
T123VOR Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 I'm going down tomorrow afternoon if you want to help Mark? I do need a lift home as i have to leave the courtesy car! Grrr no car til I buy a new one. Deano's coming to help me get her jacked up and the exhaust off But you can help me get the stereo out if you fancy it- all hands on deck plus we'll need a hammer man... However I'm not risking taking the gauges or the scoop so PLEASE dont try to talk me round- I cant risk it with the ins company Trevor
markie Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I promise not to take the gauges out[] well not while your looking [] Let me know what sort of time you are going to be there, i am working in the morning & should be finished by lunch time i will be able to get over there about 2ish [Y] I touch goats

Trevor The guy was very specific meaning that they are offering you a better price because it has guages etc fitted as opposed to a standard car. That doesn't mean you can't strip it all out!! Don't leave it in. It will be a crime. When ours was smashed up by the dirty low life, hope they are dead, wan***s who nicked ours and the wife went to look at it she went around the car taking off anything that was still in working order (Although admittedly that wasn't much []), no-one batted an eyelid. Either at the breakers or the insurance company. At the very least let Mark strip it out. At least then you'll have a clear conscience []
T123VOR Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 Oh no look what just popped up today http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-SUBARU-IMPREZA-...1QQcmdZViewItem Tony I would have taken them off for you to buy but the assessor who has seen them with his own eyes specifically told me to leave them so i cant risk it- you know what ins co's can be like... sorry mate
