any ideas......???

Bushes??? of am I of on a wrong tangent...

HI Paul.

I have the same problem, I have been told on good authority that it is the new application of salt mix that central / council are trialing on our road system leaving a residue on the tarmac.

The alternative product is made from road salt mixed with magnesium chloride and food-grade molasses. The molasses coats the materials, helping the mixture to remain on the pavement, and prevents the product from scattering or bouncing off the roadway when applied.

The product can work at much lower temperatures than road salt and leaves a slight residue that promotes quick melting of subsequent snow or ice.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit, noticed Cal had mentioned the steering pump playing up. Are there any easy ways of telling if a pump is playing up? Is it a common fault, and is it easy enough to change if required?

cheers guys.

You had a full 4 wheel alignment / geometry setup recently?? Worth doing as i'm sure it will highlight if there are any issues like damage...

I would recommend the place in bonnybridge, can't remember the name but if interested give me a shout and i'll dig out the paperwork..

Thanks for the replies guys.....

Im not sure Brian if thats what causing it....I mentioned it to Fraz a while ago also..so when thinking about it, its probably being going on for longer than i thought. Just seems to feel like a lot of play in the wheel......

Desperately need to get the car into Duncan at Hypertech anyway for an oil change so will get it checked over....doesnt feel like its anything to do with the Tein set up......

Chris, Gus is correct in mentioning Progrip, but bear in mind Hypertech also now do digital alignment as well. Might get this looked at also....

Holly shite Brian, you sound like one of those NASA blokes!!

I've noticed a little "slippery" under wheel in the last few months as well....

Maybe you are right, it sounds impressive anyway!!

Thanks mate

Just had tein suspension fitted and the steering rack bushes replaced at the same time, and had a geometry check carried out and the difference is amazing, would highly recommend this, it might just sort things out.

Got the problem sorted folks.......

Car had its oil change etc in Hypertech yesterday...and Duncan advised me it was actually tyre wear. With the fast road set up on the Teins...it seems the tyres have a tendency to wear from the inside out. The wear was right on the inside wall of the tyre and it also seems that when the Goodyear F1 tyre starts to go the sidewalls soften..so it was this that was causing the tramlining and spongy feel at the front.....Just got 2 new tyres fitted and bingo back to normal...yee haaaaaaaa....

Many many thanks again to Duncan for the excellent service.... I all for giving credit were credit is due...and in the case of Hypertech it is certainly due....Top service and a top team Duncan has.....thanks mate
