Just wondered if anyone was running one or knew much about them? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perrin-Cold...041442001QQrdZ1
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Have a read here :- http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread...ghlight=aps+cai http://www.ecutek.com/tuning/induction/ ( useful read ) Cheers Cal p.s why did you sel the APS one you had ? Surely it's the best buy ? Just curios
st3ph3n Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I think the benefits of a CAI are well known. See my thread earlier last week about my own project. I ended up deciding the standard airbox was fine for my requirements. To the perrin itself though - my mate Brian from Canada tells me nothing but good things about the Perrin name. He's only got a wee Honda himself, but the shop he gets his bits from has a demo STI running shed loads of Perrin gear and it's pretty tasty. If you read NASIOC then you'll see that and the APS are basically the best choice to go for in terms of CAIs.
fai17 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 View larger picture The good thing about the Perrin one is that you could use it for inner wing in the summer and inside the engine bay in the winter when it's wet because it comes in 3 piece so that you could use it how you like it. You probably need a short piece of silicone tubing so you could mount it inside the engine bay tho.
st3ph3n Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 The K&N typhoon complete CAI has the option of going short ram in the winter.

clutdav Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 In response to using short ram for winter months: You don't need to change the CAI to short ram in the winter. I have had the K&N Typhoon on my car for close to 1.75 years and seen my fair share of rain and snow. The car has never skipped a beat even hitting standing water in the past has made no difference. As long as you don't go wading the car will be fine - or atleast mine has. Just remember though if you get a short ram or full CAI like mine below, you will need a remap or at the very least a trip to a rolling road for a fuelling dyagnostics run. These have been known in the past to cause some cars to run lean at the top end and so cause detonation and other bad things to happen. On the flip side I am aware of a STi8 PPP that has run a K&N Typhoon for 3 years without a remap and he has had no problems at all. My stance was that scooby's are expensive cars - it is worth getting it checked out properly. Dave
