andyr Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Searched around but didn't find anything although I know this has been discussed before : I'm needing a new supply of octane booster for my WRX : have used the Millers Octane Plus which gets used at a bottle per tank, works out at around £3.50+ per tank. Phoned Pentland Components and they have NF Race which is around £15 per bottle inc vat but only around 1/8th (?) a bottle or so is used per tank so would be more economical but more hassle as it needs measured out. Suggestions as to the best (for road use only) Jap classic WRX booster to use and best source also pls !
wrxmania Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I get my Octane plus from AWD in Perth - always in stock. Also, Millers Oils is in Hillington Industrial Estate - you could try them direct? Brian []
st3ph3n Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Dastek out in Dalgety Bay do a decent price on them. AS Performance are also stockists.
craig mac Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Alyn @ AS Performance for my Millers Octane Plus []
sma01 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Not used octane booster for a wee while, but when i do use it i was using Lucas, supplied from Dunc @ hypertech and it was first class. Has anyone actually read the bottle on the millers?it actually states that it is not adviseable to use it for pro-longed periods with cars running catalytic converters....then again, how many folk on here still running cats???[]
harvey_smith Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I have tried every octane booster I can find and after lots of tests, settled on the Nitrous Formula (NF) available from Roger Clark Motorsport, next day. Even although it is expensive, it is very cost effective as one bottle does 5 or 6 tanks. From the tests on Optimax at the time it was clear that more ignition advance could be run. This was the actual test, how much more advance could be added. Several had no effect at all.

andyr Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Cheers : I think I'll try the NF Race - maybe 1/5 bottle per tank or so ?
Fee Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I use NF race....about 1/6 to a tank for normal driving so one bottle does 6 tanks usually (if my memory serves me correctly.....it's been a month or so since I've had to fill the car up!)
cullenmin Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (if my memory serves me correctly.....it's been a month or so since I've had to fill the car up!) [] Lucky for some []
sandy_gray Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 lol Yeh NF race is great except don't add the full bottle as i think this may have went towards the end of my engine blowing up,but the car did'nt half shift before meltdown!
harvey_smith Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Cheers Peter.[] Now you know I would only give you the best.[H] 300 mls per bottle. Effective at 1ml per litre. I have found that the effectiveness tails off after 2ml/litre and there are no gains to be had beyond 3mls/litre. It helps to get a plastic 50 or 60 ml measure from the chemists, local hospital or whatever.
drb5 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 And i've still got about 3-4 bottles left fromthe last time i bought some! [] God i really don't use the car enough. []
