Fair cop !

Just heard on the radio that the chief police driving instructor was caught by a mobile speed camera at 118 mph !

I kinda thought that type of thing would have been conveniently swept under the carpet but fair cop, he's been charged.

I suppose this shows that there isn't one rule for one - and another rule for t'uther.

Shade embarrassing for the Rozzers though  [:$]

Last year a policeman was done at 130 odd in a Vectra on the motorway using evidence from the car's own video recorder. Think he was initially convicted then it was quashed, can't remember where it stands now.

Was this new one caught whilst conducting official duties?

I know if I ever need the police to come to my help I want them to be able to travel at speed.

Not sure St3ph3n but, it'll be on the 1.00pm news.

I remember an ambulance driver speeding on a 999 call. He got charged too but I don't have a problem with 999 calls speeding.

Well, it was on the radio again but was a bit vague. Apparantly he was speeding through an accident blackspot, in uniform ,carrying out a "risk assessment". No mention if he was in a meat wagon or Blue lights.

I have a different angle on this one! IS 118MPH a dangerous or high speed. I know he was a police officer and if it was a punter he would get done but I still think in a modern car which has much improved brakes, suspension and tyres that 118 isn't very fast or dangerous.

Although I do think there "EXCUSE" is very doggy. Carrying out a risk assessment. I am very familiar with risk assessments and I would have imagined since this was an "ACCIDENT BLACKSPOT" that part of the initial risk assessment before they travelled the road would have been -

Task = Drive on public road at high speed

Potential Accident or injury = Crash, damage to vehicle, serious body injury or death

Preventitive measure = Use correct PPE (always in there - crash helmet) Non essential personnel to keep clear of area (close the road). Have accident response team available (Ambulance) in case of accident. [:D][:P][B)][:D]

You get the idea.
