steve1873 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Just recently bought my first Impreza - a silver '97 UK turbo and I've been more than impressed with it. It is currently 100% standard (except for a set of Wolfrace alloys), but not for long. I'm looking at doing a few interior modifications first with the most important being a new steering wheel as I find the standard one a little on the large side and not quite 'sporty' enough. Anyway I've been looking on e-bay and have seen a couple of the newer Momo steering wheels that were fitted on all Impreza's after '98 I believe and although I like it I'm still not sure if it is for me. I then seen THIS and have kinda fallen in love with it. The only problem is it is a non airbag model, which I'm ok with, but am wondering if there will be any problems removing the standard steering wheel and disconnecting the airbag unit. I know it sounds stupid but will this result in the airbag warning light being constantly displayed on the dash ? Also, if anybody could help me source a compatible boss for this steering wheel it would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance for any help. Steve.
sheep Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hello and welcome, my brother is looking at doing the same thing in his evo and i believe the light will stay on constantly.
steve1873 Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 Hello and welcome, my brother is looking at doing the same thing in his evo and i believe the light will stay on constantly. OK thanks, I thought that would be the case. I'm presuming I could then just remove the bulb from behind the dash to eliminate this ? Stupid question but am I likely to run into any other problems ? I'm not sure if the airbag system will affect any of the other electrical systems.
st3ph3n Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Might affect insurance? Welcome to the club too.
sheep Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I think it means the passenger air bag will also not work.

nkwrx Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Might affect your face if you're unfortunate enough to hit it at a rate of knots. Airbags work mate, give it some serious thought. cheers Kevan
