Grizedale Rally Today

Drove down this morning to the Lake District with my eldest son Fraser on our first ever visit to the Grizedale Rally, beatiful scenery & the sun was a rare sighting to see.

Mathew Wilson won it easily with Marcus Gronholm's 06 WRC Focus, Geoff Jones was second in amazingly a GPN Impreza & Barry Johnson was third in his WRC Impreza.

Young David Bogie had a brilliant drive in his 1400 Nova beating many more powerfull machines, he finnished 1st in class &11th o/a.

Overall this was a cracking rally to attend with easy access to the Grizedale Forestry Complex, the stages were very fast & we did have the odd bit of rain which made for excellent viewing.

We'll be back next year if it doesn't clash with the Galloway Hills Rally weekend.

Great pics but you need to get a better zoom lens as the rally cars are really hard to make out!!!

I used to work in Kielder when I was with the Forestry Commission never missed an event in those days as generally I was the duty forester. (through choice[])  

Best job I ever had..............................................................................................................................(for rallying[][] )

Damn annoyed that I didn't visit this one now. Young Bogie was flying a week earlier in the Galloway Hills.

I think he is going to run that Nova for another year looking to win his championship. After that I'm sure he'll take on the old man's 6R4. Like to see him take it on gravel, John only seemed to run it on tarmac events.
