STi intercoolers for Classics

As some may know i've been thinking about doing a few mods to my engine.

I've been given good advice regarding turbo's, fuel system and the like so now for the intercooler.

I was told my standard i/c could reach about 300bhp but would be better to fit an STi 7/8/9. (seems alot of hassle and expensive though)

If i go down the TD04 hybrid route or even the TD05-16g , would the i/c off an STi v5/6 be worthwhile fitting instead of the standard one( how much can these handle ) and is it a straight fit compared with the later STi 7/8/9 one ?

Cheers

Perfect straight fit with the V5/6 IC, but not worth the money mate.

I'd stick with your original IC, but get yourself some Samco hoses and a tilt kit for the IC.

STi5/6 TMIC is fine is your running a classic and looking for around 325/330. It will cope with around 350 on a TD05 - VF28/29 but in the summer and on trackdays, you'll need to think about Waterspray as you'll be running around 1.5 Bar.

No need to worry about it up here at this time of year though!

STi8 TMIC isn't all that difficult. I've done 5 now into Classics and 3 hours is what you need to do it!

I recognise that car!................................................[:D]

It did run VERY WELL whilst I had it on the car. Shamer I took it off in the quest to go WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over the 370 she was running!
