Alan-G Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 My scoob always locks all the doors when I set off. Can this function be negated as I don't like being in a locked car when driving. This made me think after being first on the scene of an accident about 2 weeks ago and would dread to think that the lady driver was unconscious and was unable to unlock the doors. Ta, Alan.
GaryD Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Not sure if there is a way of permanently deactivating it, but once the car locks itself I normally just unlock it from the drivers door.
sheep Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I misread the title and thought you were locked in a transit. [][] I thought mr white van had abducted you.
Guest greegsy Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I've got a 99 classic and when I bought the car I enabled this option i.e once car is started doors lock. If it's the standard fit subaru alarm then you will have a keypad in the glovebox on the right hand side. I've sent you a PM with instructions on how to disable this feature. Greegs
Alan-G Posted November 28, 2006 Author Posted November 28, 2006 Got your PM mate and thanks. Unfortunately its not the standard scooby alarm. When I bought my Scooby, the company I bought it from being www.motordepot.co.uk (checkout my testimonial LOL - but its all true) they advised that they could fit a Cat1 alarm for an extra 350 pictures of the Queen (£350 in old money as Euros are taking over) and I went for it and got a "Toad" alarm with its own keyfob, so I'm a bit Fecked as what to do. Cheers. Alan.
andy Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 In this day and age I absolutely insisted on an alarm with anti hi-jack. With hi-jackings at traffic lights, junctions etc becoming more common I'd rather be safe from that and take my chances in an accident.
Guest greegsy Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I used to have a toad alarm in a previous car. I'm sure you can unlock the doors with one of the buttons on the keyfob once you are driving along once the doors have auto locked. Think the toad alarm I had was an Ai606. Greegsy
Guest AlanK Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Mines does that aswell but I reckon it is better that way for taking off and driving about town - usually unlock it on the open road and that is easy enough to do. Funny locking people out the car when you jump in and turn the key before they get round the side [:$]
james666 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 hi i'm guessin this happens once you r in the car and turned on ignition to start the car, if so press the unarm button or button 2 and this will unlock the car.
frank c Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Wasn't even aware my alarm system done this. Something i'll need to check as i've never even used the the key pad for the alarm.
GaryD Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Greegsy, are there any other functions you can activate or deactivate using the keypad? I forgot to say earlier, im pretty sure if you start the car with the drivers door open it wont lock any of the doors, would double check that tho, just in case you lock your keys inside
Guest greegsy Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Just had a wee look at the alarm handbook, you can disable the ultrasonic's(can do this with remote fob too), also display battery voltage by utilising the dashboard led i.e 12 flashes=12 volts and enable superlock i.e car can't be opened even with remote key as alarm ignores all remote keys. Basically you would need to open the car door with the key then open the glovebox and type in the security code on panel to silence the alarm. This would come in handy I suppose if someone nicked your keys from your house but would seriously p!ss off your neighbours if you kept it enabled permanently! Greegsy
ANDYJDMSTI Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I have set my alarm (Sigma i think) to lock the doors as soon as i turn the key, bit of extra safety in todays sh1tty society. I know alot of people do not like the idea of being trapped in their cars should anything go pear shaped, me personally i do not mind, have spent enough time in cramped vehicles with all manner of equipment on unable to move freely, waiting for it all to go noisey. Different people different choices. []
oz *sti* Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I have to say I'm with Andy on this one, I also have my alarm set so when I turn the key the doors lock - in society today you hear all to often of people being car jacked etc, etc.... having the doors locked at a turn of the key gives me that extra peice of mind.
Deamon555 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I've got a newage WRX with standard UK alarm. The auto locking of doors with the ignition is a standard feature of the alarm. The Auto locking was not enabled on my car but I enabled it soon after. Simply turn on the ignition (without starting the engine) Press #5 on the keypad then switch off the ignition. This should disable the autolock. Doing the same but pressing #4 will enable it again.. And FYI - To disable the internal sensors temporarily (Until next time alarm is disabled and re-enabled) Do the same process as above but with button #2. When arming the system after doing this indicators will flash 8 times as opposed to the standard 4.. (Note this can also be achieved by switchign on the ignition pressing the keyfob button and switchign off ignition closing doors and arming) There's also an option for an auto arm of the system but this isn't a user/owner option and can only be done at a garage (Unless anyone else knows the key combination [] ) Hope this helps.
