scooby222 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 steve nairn sti has suggested that itd be great if we could do something up here for the santa cruise,i know we havent got a lot of time to organise something but even a little bits better than nothing. i spoke to the guys who were out today and their willing to help if they can but this is something we really need a bit more support and manpower for, so whatya reckon? if were going to do something we need to move fast!
steven_williams Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 If neede I am up for a spur of the moment meet to discuss options. I touch goats
steve_nairn_sti Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Guys, this is an excerpt from the PM I sent Dave earlier in the week. Like Dave said, we need to move quickly and I will do my best to help from out here! Does anyone know who we would have to contact about arranging an area in the pedestrian centre of town to place a few cars and rattle some donation boxes? Do we need any special permissions to collect for a charity etc??? Anything you can help with, please let us know. Here's that excerpt: I think the way we should plan it is similar to how they're doing it down the road - We should contact the local police and advise them what route we will be taking. May even manage to drive up the pedestrianised area of the town IF they're agreeable with our plans. We could possibly get a spot in town and park a few cars there and rattle some boxes? After that, get a convoy out to Raigmore and go and visit the kiddies. Might be an idea for someone to get dressed up as Santa to pass out the prezzies. (And no, I'm not volounteering!! []) Maybe a few elves too.... [] Whatever we do, we'll need to get a wriggle on! If we're going ahead, we'll need to contact Raigmore PR department to see if they will organise press or if we will. We'll have to find out what type of presents to get etc. All presents have to be unwrapped so they can be checked for suitability etc. I imagine we would need to get a collection going early in Dec so that we have time to buy presents and take them up to the hospital before Christmas. The collection and cruise would therefor probably have to be on seperate days. I don't mind giving up some time while I'm at home to attend and I certainly don't have a problem getting things sorted from an admin side here. Like I say, I'll do whatever I can to help but we need to make sure some others would be happy to contribute before we commit to anything. If you sound out the guys on Sunday, let me know as soon after that as possible so that I can get started on contacting the police/hospital/press/council or whoever needs to be notified. Thanks to Imy for forwarding on all the information to get this started. I have copies of the donation forms etc that I can send out to you all. Please just PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you.
ally-b Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Well done Steve , Sounds like Imy has beat me to it (as usual ! ) She has given you all the best advice . It is not too late . PM me (or any of the other ROs)and if we can help , we will [Y] Al.
scooby222 Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 cmon guys, there must be some more willing to help the kids?
micra_wrc Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 nice one [Y] The hardest part is speaking to Raigmore and setting a date and format. Once that's in place, things should pick up and get momentum. Let me know if you have any questions
thefastone Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I could be up for helping out too depending that nothing gets in the way like... [H]
steve_nairn_sti Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Thanks Dale and Imy. We really need a show of hands here before we approach Raigmore so that we know there's going to be enough bods on the day. I'm going to start a new thread with a more specific title to see if we can drum up some interest. After that, I'll progress with contacting Raigmore.[Y]
