ally-b Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 [] I felt a wee bit of slip last night on my way home from Peters place - This morning it was happening a bit on the way to work too . Looks like my clutch is finally on the way out [] I'll be phoning Greersport in the morning . Fingers x'd they'll be able replace it ASAP. I can't really grumble as it has nearly done 65k on the original . Meanwhile I have use of my pensioner Mums clio automatic (no giggling at the back [^o)]) so I may have to turn up at the Glasgow meet in that on Thursday [:$] Al.
irish al Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Can you do any damage if you keep driving the car with a slipping clutch ????????
ally-b Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Can you do any damage if you keep driving the car with a slipping clutch ???????? A 'certain person' ,who shall remain nameless (don't want to embarrass Gmac ... oops its out now [:$]) Ran his slipping clutch for a week or so . As the days went on it slipped more and gripped less . . . Untill it only slipped and didn't grip at all[] My car is my daily driver - I can't risk it . Al.
fai17 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 You want me to call them for you? What do you want?
st3ph3n Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Too much knockhill Ally. Or did you let G drive it at all? Crail launches took plenty of life off mine, but after a couple of weeks of regular driving it seemed to right itself again, although I don't fancy its chances for lasting another 30K
lescazscoob Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 must be something in the air ours started the same over the weekend but have organise an uprated clutch to be fitted this weekend along with a few other things lol!!
corsa Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Just had mine replaced under warranty at 23k miles !!! And ANOTHER set of rear struts. Do i hold the record for the 5th strut in 2 years of ownership? Thank goodness for the subaru warrant.
st3ph3n Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 5th Strut or 5th set of struts Davie? It's damn good going either way, but I thought they always replaced them in pairs.
st3ph3n Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Peter, I'm this close to hitting the moderate user button for dodgy jokes like that. Ally, let me know the price you get for the clutch. I feel like I should be putting a wee bit away every month just in case.
gubderSTI Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Just had a new clutch fitted it was £550 for the clutch then labour on top Steve

st3ph3n Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 If only I'd not been out with the awful puns myself. I'll continue to strut around like I own the place.
ally-b Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 Thats enough lads , this is my 'clutch' thread so put a damper on it [] Al. Ps , many thanks for your help today Peter - you are a true gent [Y]
fai17 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 After reading all this shocking news and didn't want to put a damper on things and acted quickly and spring into action by call Bill Greer @ Greersport if he could price up the new clutch. The price for a brand new EXXEDY Organic is £450 fitted which is a absorbing good news for Ally[]
wrxmania Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 GREERS a break Peter from these terrible puns!! It really makes us feel as if you are CLUTCHing at straws to keep us in SUSPENSION. You are really HANDLING this all wrong. []
