fai17 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Good call Kev [] Here's Kevs view. It helps to be realistic. Thats right it would be mental so I would say crail screwed up the times, there is no way on earth my car would do a 60ft in 1.12sec's. so i will scrap that 12.1 time and say my best time was my last time @ 12.42 so if someone would change it in the times table for me thanks, Kev. Normally in proper drag racing you need to "back up" a result within 1% on the same day. ie if you run a 12.1 you would need to back it up with a 12.22 or faster before it would be accepted. The reason for this is to eliminate the odd dodgy result. Andy The GOD has spoken...i'm taking notes sir. Thanks
wrxchris Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 yep fair play, ill accept my slower 12.4 aswell then. i was tryin like a bugger to back up the 12.1, but as the 12.1 was third last run, i then jumped the lights on my next run,was runnin out of fuel, and the last run which fee video'd the clutch was slippin a wee bitty! clutch barely got me home, not to worry i WILL be back with more power, less wieght, and serveral 11 second passes!!! and hopefully prove my worth, cheers chris
wrxchris Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 well no point in bein daft, and at the end of the day 12.4 is still bloody fast for a low power wrx and a heavy new age wrx. just means ive now got the bit between my teeth, determined to prove my car. mabee even a new clutch for this comin sunday!
kevametal Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I was talking to my uncle tonight and he said he was racing a Evo at crail in his Subaru(quick little bugger) he left it down the strip but the evo got a better time than him, check out the times below and cast your eye's on the 60ft time wow! 0.9 sec's and done in the same righthand lane i was in with the low time, Results For GARY WILSON | 29th October 2006 | SUBARU | Upto 2000cc Turbo GARY WILSON SUBARU ET 13.456 sec sec RT 0.257 sec 60FT 1.971 sec MPH102.5 mph mph Left lane GARETH STEPHEN EVO ET12.644 sec sec RT1.54 sec 60FT0.978 sec MPH106.9 mph mph Right lane GARY WILSON SUBARU ET14.504 sec sec RT 0.193 sec 60FT 2.221 sec MPH 98.3 mph mph Left lane K AITKENS SUBARU ET12.106 sec sec RT1.845 sec 60FT1.122 sec MPH107.1 mph mph Right lane Fooked right hand lane i would say!

wrxchris Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 funny that, my 12.1 was in the right hand lane!!! think the problem has been found!!
craig mac Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 LOL Fai [] Run the Right hand lane [] So if the right hand lane is goosed, then the times could ALL be wrong from that LANE[] Well all my times are left hand lane[][][]LOL FPMSL [:'(]
wrxchris Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 oh dear this could open up a can of worms!!!!!!
fai17 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Nothing wrong with the thread....but i might try the right hand lane for a change[]
Fee Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Not necessarily....look at the reaction times on those.... The evo didnt actually go on the green light... so although your uncle beat him off the line....the evo actually got a quicker time. That's what Adam's always moaning at me about....I always feel the need to go on the light....even if I'm not ready and then get a totally crap start and crap time. If I just wait and go when I'm ready then my time would be better....yeah the car in the other lane would pass the finish line first...but that doesnt necessarily mean he's faster
kevametal Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yes Fee i understand what you are saying but it still does not prove the 60ft time, no way it can do it in .9 sec's its just crazy!

Yea but you got it right Fee, keep doing it your way ! Don't fall into the bad habit of relaxed starts, it backfires on you when you get into eliminator type events as these are 1st across the line wins. A number of my friends down south have lost big races at the pod due to being in the habit of going when they have their revs/clutch/mirror/hair etc to their liking before launching. Put them under the pressure of a reaction launch and they are rubbish ! If you look at the times kev posted, then reading between the lines, if the 'fast' runs had some of their reaction time added to the 60' it all starts to make more sense, both reaction and 60' would then be 'normal' Looks like the light that clocks you away from the line was triggering late, that would increase the reaction time and drop 60' time. Andy
wrxchris Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 thats the way i launch, have the car biting on the clutch, and when it goes green, your off on a flier. not recomended on standard clutches though!! lol
Fee Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I go when the light from the last race stops flashing now!!! hehe my clutch was honking the whole day.....dont think it'll be long before I need another new one! [:$]
Fee Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 yeah..... i used to be ok at getting good RT's.... :/ All mine from sunday were at best high 0.4's up to 2secs. Fee's were on average about 0.2 LOL hahhaa... i did beat you (if you dont count first past the post ) FEE MUIR 14.234 sec sec 0.293 sec 2.41 sec 103.0 mph mph Left lane ADAM KINDNES 14.162 sec sec 0.638 sec 2.272 sec 98.0 mph mph Right lane check oot my RT! and Fee's 60ft LOL nice launch lover Adam
wrxchris Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 Why are you waiting for the Green ? erm i duno! are you allowed to go on amber???
jcscoob Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Why are you waiting for the Green ? erm i duno! are you allowed to go on amber??? Well your not meant to but by the time you have reacted they are at green for gogogogogo []
wrxchris Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 aye well thats what i was meanin, i have the clutch bitin and im ready on amber and as soon as the green flicks on im off on a flier
diffbuster Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 fee should have given steff (the guy who has just spent a not inconsiderable amount ) in the blue type r pelters she beat him twice i would have congratulated you but i was trying to get mine out of reverse after 1 run. his motor is going great andy f but you could have given him lessons.
colin_ross Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Just noticed the RT's on the right lane are massive, almost like it never started until the whole car had passed the line or something?
wrxchris Posted November 3, 2006 Author Posted November 3, 2006 yeah i noticed that to, my rt's are usually very consistent.but i they were all over the place, due to me running in different lanes something wrong at crail, very very wrong!
