rippy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 hi all, currently driving a celica gt4 st205wrc but have been thinking about changing to an impreza, had a look at a sti type r at makay trading, looks stuning, just wondering if anyone knows anything about that particular car, thanks
scoobyiain Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Only has part service history mate. If your going for that kind of spec and spending that money try to find one with full service history.
col666 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Welcome! Is it the blue type r? It is immaculate but has been in there for about 2 years, probably cos of the price! was £15,995 when it first appeared. Wouldnt worry too much about Service history as it would all be in jap anyway! Think its already had a rebuild too which is a good thing as mine went pop after 6 weeks[] Dont think you will find a cleaner type r but you will defo find a cheaper one elsewhere. The owners attitude isnt the best either! Col.
rippy Posted October 14, 2006 Author Posted October 14, 2006 aye its had a rebuild, bought the gt4 of them in febuary, been offerd a trade in on the impreza
Dougie C Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Welcome to SIDC Hope you have fun and wish you luck in the purchase also. Dougie
shaun_odonnell Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Welcome mate, Is it this one? http://www.mackaytrading.co.uk/fullvehicle...25471&popup= If so, they had that in there last year when I bought my P1 from them. I went in to buy the P1 but they kept showing me this STI. Thought it was too expensive then and still expensive now. Get a UK model that better mapped for uk fuel and better set up for UK roads, like a P1. Have a look on hear http://p1woc.co.uk/postnuke/modules.php?op...&file=index for further info and P1's for sale. Shaun.
shaun_odonnell Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 The owners attitude isnt the best either! I'll agree with you there!!!!
rippy Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 thanks, realy like the celica so not sure if i want to change.not sure if the added cost would be worth it,any one went from a gt4 to a scoob
shaun_odonnell Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 thanks, realy like the celica so not sure if i want to change.not sure if the added cost would be worth it,any one went from a gt4 to a scoob Don't know anyone that has, but shouldn't you ask; "Has anyone went from an Impreza to a GT4?" Think the answer would be no and that says a lot.
rippy Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 like the p1 but going by what ive read about them they all seem to go pop,not sure if this is true or just a myth.braidwood motors have one but i think someone on here said it had dodgy history
dipsy Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Ask rs Grant he had a celica gt4 before his Scoob and i think over 400bhp mark
boxerboy Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 alright mate i bought a white sti from mackays in march and had a couple of wee probs like oil leaks etc,but their aftersales i thought was great for example i could not get through to get a couple of things fixed so they came through with a courtesy car on a trailer dropped it off and took mine away until it was fixed and then came back to carnoustie with it on the trailer again try to get arnold clark to do that for nowt. plus as for kyes atittude he is alright he must just get fed up of window shoppers and the cars are mint.
stevie 4 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 hi mate i just done the jump from a gt4 to a scoob and i must say im loving it.i must say the scoobie dosent have the comforts the celica has but once you put your foot down and the turbo kicks in and slaps you in the face you'll love it
frank c Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 The owner as said before is a complete knob and their prices are way over priced. If it's the one i'm thinking of, ver 6 on an S plate ?? Is this right or should it be a ver 5? Frank
col666 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Its a version 5 not a 6, exactly the same as mine. Version 6 has a slightly bigger rear spoiler with a small kick on the back of the top wing.
frank c Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I wonder if he will drop the price since it's wrongly advertised as a Ver 6. He's not that approachable though come to think of it. Frank
STi_Bandit Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 The one in mackay's has been there for near on two years now and he wont budge in price i know i toke a fancy to it but the price was waaaayyyy to hiigh and the only reason i got for the price was "sir its a rare limited edition subaru very desirable" Bandit
scooby222 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 like col said you wont find cleaner but you will get cheaper and probably almost as good. i know a guy who worked there when it came in and he said that its mint and the engine was rebuilt properly but that the cars are bought in at good money add the rebuild and his attitude to that and he aint going budge. but once he knows your serious(ie youve bought it) hes ok
rippy Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 bought the 4 of him so he knows im serious, had suspension problems with the 4 not long after i got it,got it fixed on warranty no probs curttesy car as well.once he knows your not a time waster hes ok
frank c Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I'd think you were ok too if you were spending that kind of money.. Nice looking Scoob but the guys still a twat imho.
stevie 4 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 bought the 4 of him so he knows im serious, had suspension problems with the 4 not long after i got it,got it fixed on warranty no probs curttesy car as well.once he knows your not a time waster hes ok figure 8s by any chance
rippy Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 no it was a burst shock, but they repaced the figure 8s as well
dan_jess Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Hey m8, welcome to the forum! A few of my mates have St205's, orange one featured in Banzai and Stuart not long sold a 555bhp one once owned by fensport, bloody rapid cars! Take a test drive in a scoob and see what u think, u wont be disapointed []
shaun_odonnell Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 like the p1 but going by what ive read about them they all seem to go pop,not sure if this is true or just a myth.braidwood motors have one but i think someone on here said it had dodgy history There are issues with the P1 like weak crank, underfuiling of cyclinder 3 & MAF sensor issues. But a P1 is a STI type 5. You would have the same theoretical problems with the Type 5 than you would with a P1, more so infact as Prodrive modified the P1's ECU to contain more knock protection as the UK fuel is not as high a RON as Japanese fuel. Why do you think this Type 5 has had a new engine? Providing they're serviced regularly and correctly, run on decent fuel and with a decent re-map (see Andy Forrest), avoid induction kits, a new MAF every year and do not run the thing at top speeds for prolonged periods of time you won't have any problems (fingers crossed). And of course always warm up and cool down.
shaun_odonnell Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 If it's of any interest....... http://p1woc.co.uk/postnuke/index.php?name...pic&t=13927
