kaan_ors Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 good morning to you all. I've had my wagon for a few months now and I've noticed that I have trouble getting into 1st and reverse gears as it sometimes feels like they are not there and i really have to push the gear stick hard. Also i've noticed that when i change up to second gear sometimes it feels too easy (silly explanation but i don't know how best to describe it) but this normally stops when the car warms up. Is this normal or should I start saving up in order to visit Foxes? One last question, any tips and advice on how to keep her in tip top condition in between services, ie- lubricants etc. Thanks in advance!
granby Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 What year is the car mate, mines a 2004 and does exactly the same thing, first and reverse i find are worst when it's cold but it does sometimes happen when it's warmed up
kaan_ors Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 Its a 2002 bug eye. Its does still happen after she's warmed up but less so. Perhaps this is a common trait. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about but i know how expensive these cars are to put right when things go wrong!
alan_newton Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 i have trouble sometimes gettin mine into reverse, did it when i got it, i put it in second first then goes in fine.
tony_cousins Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I think most coobies are like that mate , mine is the same too []
kaan_ors Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 Thanks guys, that comes as a huge relief because i was worried that it was a problem that would cost a fortune to sort out. I'll try the 'stick it in second first' trick and see how i get on. any advice on top up fluids and so forth? Thanks again.
kaan_ors Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 I must admit, that was my intention but having looked at lots of examples of both i'm afraid to say that the WRX has the edge on the classic, looks wise, especially from the rear, which, let's face it, is what most people see the most!
deani_age Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 What does the rear look like then? I only ever get to see the front in my rear view mirror. But not for long. LONG LIVE THE CLASSIC RA
nanaki Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Should have bought a classic! Yes he should have... however I get the same issue with my classic gear box. i need to go into second first then into reverse. Once its warmed up sometimes it works but I generally just go 2nd then reverse out of habbit now.
big jay Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 There must be some thing wrong with my classic coz i don't get none of that crap with mine!!![] Long live the classic's[Y][]
