A Brush with the law: Result just in ...

As has been said, does not matter that there is no vid footage.

There are 2 officers who witnessed the said offence and if it goes to court then you will have 2 officers witness statements against one Joe Bloggs who says "did'nt do it guv!"

Probably will not get that far though, costs of court, officers pay to turn up etc will be more than the fine.

5 points and a 400 quid fine.

they were gona charge him with dangerous but that is an automatic ban so make sure you do not plead guilty.

Not guilty all the way[Y]

Cheers Mark! That has cheered me up, NOT! The officers told me that my speed wont be used as they didnt have the correct equipment to log it accurately, other than their own speedo. So he said it was down to careless driving (I think he said careless and not dangerous). He said I was looking at 3 points and maybe a fine if the PF pursues it. But who knows what they will put down on their report. He said I was doing 60 and I denied that straight off and said Iw as doing 43 - which was true. He didnt push it but said that I was still speeding. I was doing more than that further up the road though and I said I honestly don't know what speed I was doing. Which I didn't to be honest. So anyways, here's hoping.

Pleading not guilty is sometimes worse than holding your hands up to it. If he pleads guilty through a letter, or a lawyer does so on his behalf at court, then it means no trial, and eliminates the chances of a Sheriff / JP listening to the evidence by the two cops, and deciding to come down on Welsho like a ton of bricks. Best thing to do Welsho is speak to a lawyer bud, and to be honest I wouldn't post too much more about it on this thread.

Best of luck with it though matey!

Seevers, I have only just managed to stop laughing at those videos, Barry "Bellend" Scott and Michael Winner as you have never seen them before!

John, wait until the letter comes in, if it comes in, then take it from there.

Dangerous driving is VERY difficult to get a conviction for without evidence that isn't just 2 policemen saying "aye, he was driving like a nutter".

Agree to a certain extent, it comes down to how the Sheriff feels about the evidence presented to him during any trial. There are definitions to both Dangerous and Careless driving, and if the Sheriff feels the evidence laid out to him falls within the definition of Dangerous driving, then he will find it proven. As st3ph3n says, just wait till the letter comes. Either way you will get some kind of corespondance in the near future, either a warning letter from the PF (fingers crossed) or an indictment.

Got the fingers crossed for you m8 !

Just hope the dreaded letter doesnt drop.

Its just your Donald Duck, could have been anyone on here posting the same.

A case of, wrong place, wrong time [:)]

Sorry to hear about you getting busted mate - it sounds more like bad luck than they were waiting someone

Did you notice if they followed you onto the Braes or were they hiding /parked in a discreet position which happened to be hidden by a bush or something?

I have seen a van up there before at the turn off for the landfill but it was early and those guys were sleeping off their rolls and sausage!!

I stay in the area and these things are good to know... as it is a pretty good road as long as you dont flash your lights

back at the parked cars... ;-)

LOL!

I actually passed the police as far down as Croftfoot Roundabout on the dual carrageway. So they weren't lying in wait. I guess when you see a stickered Scoob passing its a red rag to a bull; I had attracted attention to myself before a wheel was even turned. Ho-hum!

sorry to hear this John, best of luck to you. I'm sure a man of your calibre was not driving carelessly..

I was driving a little too quickly perhaps, but not carelessly! Not even close.

Mr. Stripe... how come you know so much about this?

They probably wanted a change to charging the ar$e bandits about the cathkin Braes laybys!!! and fancied a chase.

Also be aware of the scamera van parked up on the newly formed tarmac just passed the bustop at the Vets.

That car and the occupants are the bearers of scary presence but never proceed with anything.

1st time i met them they stopped wilky and i in carmunock as we moved foxtrot through the village late at night doing nothing other than carrying a stick.

2nd time i was in the deathstar mobile at 100mph roughly over the braes and they were in the laybys as i wooshed past. they stopped me in Lawburn mentioning speed, teh PF and other tripe. never heard a thing

I would say that yes people get pulled off the normal plod these days but i think you were speeding rather than driving carelesly.

dont worry about it, nothing will happen if they never gave you any paperwork
