scotsman Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Hi folks I'm keen on doing one of the £135 options at Knockhill and was looking for any recommendations (i.e. is the rally experience best or seat/single seater, etc). I'm not that keen on taking my own Scooby round (can't afford the new tyres and brakes!) - so the drive your own car options are out. Cheers Richard.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I did the single seater one before I had ever done any track days. It was braw.........they tell you not to use 5th gear but I could not resist. They are RWD so be warned if "show-boating" !! Cheers CGS
st3ph3n Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I did the Rally one and it was really good fun, but at the time I had a 1.8 Vectra with chronic understeer, so getting a shot in someting with a bit of oomph and RWD was a treat. On reflection - the Impreza is quicker. I personally would have issues with the single seaters as I'm 6 foot 4 and have had one too many carmel wafers.
scotsman Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 Thanks guys. Currently leaning towards the Rally one. Stephen - how much actual driving time did you get with it?
z1000 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Wouldn't worry too much about tyres and brakes on ur car as i've done a couple of trackdays now and still running the same ones that were fitted last november so if you don't thrash it it won't cost as much as you think. Only problem is you realise how many faster cars there are out there and want to start modding.
st3ph3n Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 The rally one - you do 3 full loops of the track ont he outside of the circuit. So that's up then stop then back down again. Then on your 4th time up you get scored on your performance. Then you stop at the end and the instructor gets in and take you back down at insane speeds. Great fun, but in reality it was fairly short.
scotsman Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 I can see a decat and Andy F remap coming next year as it is!
scotsman Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Thanks Stephen - I guessed it would be fairly short - these things always seem to be - shame though! I suppose using your own car will mean a lot more track time. Time to consider getting a cheap car for track days!
