duncan_mccormick Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 After buying a new 2006 STI with all the extras 6 months ago or 10000 miles I have just spent the best money ever and had the geometry set proper...thot that was done wi prodrive suspension fitment!!! It now sticks to the road like .... to a blanket!! So if you are thinking about anti roll barrs and all that forget it until you have had geometry done PROPER!!
gus the bus Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Did you get it set to the PRODRIVE settings? Best thing I ever did too.[Y]
duncan_mccormick Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Thot that was all done by suppling dealer! It was why off and the proof is in the driving now. It just never felt right, very floaty at speed and never felt too hot on the corners. I was just about to spent a lot O money on roll barrs, drop links n stuff............no need now tho!!
st3ph3n Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Yes. Proper geometery is well worth the money. Turn in, cornering, motorway crusing, anything and everything benefits from it.
gus the bus Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Not always done tbh unless you ask for it to be set to a particular setting. Standard setting has a lot of positive camber hence the fact that most Scoobs have feathering on the outer edges of the tyres. Prodrive setting puts this the opposite way with negative camber so, wear is slightly quicker on the inside instead. Well worth having it that way IMHO.[Y] Gus
mrs. jc scoob Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 This is good to hear as I am awaiting Prodrive springs arriving and whiteline steering rack bushes, then I will get geometry done at the moment my car feels a bit like a magic carpet, wasn't sure whether to go for for prodive geo set up or normal as I dont want to go through tyres too fast, but the more I read about the Prodrive setup the more I am considering it. Good result glad your happy with your car[]
st3ph3n Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Any complaints about excessive tyre wear on the prodrive settings I think are a lot of nonsense. I've been running it for a year and a half now and had no issues and that includes trackdays, runs etc. etc.
gus the bus Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 As I said Stephen[Y] "slightly" but a lot less noticeable than on the standard settings. Well worth the change[Y]
duncan_mccormick Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Not one corner was the same, OSF +2 NSF -1. It does not even feel close to the car I thot I had. I race Mbikes off road so I understand set ups, not that a Mbike is the same!! but how to get the best out of what ever am driving, took 2 months to get Mbike set right and 6 months for car!! Round-abouts and roads in the East Neuk O fife have become fun again!!
fai17 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Good on big chap....we found that out ages ago[][]
