scoobyseller555 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Sorry you have taken this out of context Craig, their has always been negative vibes on these forums regarding the dealer network in some shape or form,i am all for club dealer relations being looked at on a regular basis as i don't think that all dealers realise the impact on their business if they don't give US(coz i'm 1 of them over the past 11 years)a good service. I know Gordon Rough personally and you can rest assured that he will give these matters his upmost attention. Once again sorry this has been taken out of context, the membership thing, yes,i think this offer should be made available to all dealerships,it would lift the profile of the club and get dealerships working hand in hand Gav

I hope that we can get the hourly rate savings that we discussed, It will out a HUGE smile on mine and everyone elses faces too. Craig
andy Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 A few additional thoughts on this... As Scoobyseller has intimated, there is willingness from other dealerships to get involved. It would only take a couple to get a bit of a bandwagon rolling and hopefully get buy-in from all dealerships. However, what is their ROI? (Return On Investment for those lucky enough not to work for a Yank corporate.) If dealerships are to invest in the SIDC then they are not going to do so for no return - or at least not for any length of time. Apart from what the dealerships can offer the SIDC, I think we have to look at what WE, as a Club, can offer them. Scoobyseller makes a valid point in "their (sic) has always been negative vibes on these forums regarding the dealer network in some shape or form". I know I've been guilty myself of declaring my feelings publicly so am hardly whiter than white, but if we want to establish and grow relationships with the dealer network, would it not be better to have either: 1) An SIDC named contact within a dealership where any issues or problems encountered by SIDC members could be discussed directly with that person and (hopefully!) resolved without having to go to public forums. 2) An SIDC Dealer-liason representative from within the SIDC Community. One person per region who handled issues from the Community, takes them up with the regional dealership by way of regular meetings and acts as liason. Both options have their advantages... Option 1 gives dealerships the ability to prove they're willing to work with the SIDC, take any issues on board and hopefully resolve them. Option 2 gives the SIDC the ability to prove we're willing to take the initative and work with the dealerships thus giving them return on their investment in the SIDC and, hopefully, happy customers and repeat business which, at the end of the day, is what they all want. Where this goes from here is anybody's guess. These are just my thoughts, but Craig's commendable efforts with T&C prove that the relationships are there to be built.
phil Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Some good points It should be a mutual partnership AND YES THERE SHOULD BE SOME CONTACT AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS BEFORE RESORTING TO THE FORUMS

Thank you too Andy Am filling up .....[:'(]................................WITH V POWER Nice one and i agree the more support aninvolvced we get with the dealers the better and vice versa I will be in at T&C this morning and i will be having further discussions, again i will keep you all posted of any developments Craig
craig mac Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 Right Guys and Gals This is not dead in the water and far from it. Firstly again a MASSIVE thank you to Gordon GM T&C and Kev Da Workshop Boss Some points to bring right back to the top are as in the original post repeated and confirmed 100% today Town and County do have a 10% discount in operation to all SIDC Members who show there cards! 1, The Service of Imported Cars They will service imported cars not a problem, However, some of the older models do not sync with the diagnostic kit they now use. Please bear this in mind if you have an older model, You have been made aware of this and if, there is an instance that they can not get parts or communicate with the older cars Diagnostics etc, It is not T&C'S Fault. 2, Modified Cars Yes they will service modified cars, if a breakdown etc happens due to a mod during the first three years then your warranty will not cover it (obviously) . This applies to direct failures from said Modifications. However routine serving is not an issue. 3, Problem Reporting If you are going in with a fault for example with a miss fire at 4k rpm etc, you will be asked what mods have been done to your car,[] Dont be alarmed and dont worry, The reason you will be asked is that they dont know whats been done to your car, and if they dont know they cant really narrow it down. .....So be open honest and tell them what has been done, It could save YOU a lot of time and at the end of the day money. 4, Customer loan cars, This is being looked at, at this moment in time and they are looking to improve on the amount of available loan cars, this still applies 5, Working Relationship Town and County have a sales trailer that is available to us manned, at any of our future events in and around this area. When asked about getting it to Knockhill etc they would if possible take it down, and are very keen to work closer with the SIDC Community as a whole. On the technical support ideas, i.e a rep from T&C signed up on here, this will happen if still required, however due to personal reasons, It will not be until later in the year the next month or so until we have someone available to bouce your questions off 6, Hourly Rates To me this is the icing on the cake, ALL SIDC MEMBERS qualify for a greatly reduced Hourly rate, At present the rate is £58 an hour plus vat[], This i might add the same as they charge at A/N Other in Forfar, I did do some homework before i went in[] As of now ALL SIDC members who show there card when booking in!! will be charged at the new rate per hour, That new rate is £45 an hour Plus vat [] Vat can not be escaped am afraid as we all know, but this now brings there rate almost to a level of some of the other "specialists" in Aberdeen, I Personally think this is a massive step to get many people back to there main dealership in Aberdeen, Where the PROPERLY TRAINED AND FULLY QUALIFIED Subaru technician are. I would be HUGELY dissappointed if it does not. Well, i have done what i set out to do and that was to try and get SIDC members that little bit more from there dealership in Aberdeen, and IMHO I am very happy and a wee bit surprised[] to be honest with what they have offered, but credit to them for giving me there time to listen to me, Also for what they in turn have offered to SIDC members in and around the Aberdeen area. Thank you [] I hope you all are H.A.P.P.Y too.[] Craig
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Great news Macca ..............good work fella 10/10 ! [<)]
vicki Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Fantastic discount on hourly rate [Y] Good work Craig []
thefastone Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Thanks again for doing this for us all mate!! [y] Ony one thing, As far as I was previously aware, there was 2 labour rates, one for Newages and one LOWER one for classic owners, Is this still the case? or are we all getting the same rate now? Just a thought mate....
kloon Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Fantastic news Craig, especially the Labour Rates, well done again sir, yer a credit to the SIDC and everyone in the ABZ area will, i'm sure, will be really grateful for yer work on this [Y] Town and County do have a 10% discount in operation to all SIDC Members who show there cards! The above I can confirm as I got 10% off my brake discs just last Friday on production of said card [] Keep this thread at the top folks, more people read it the more both us and T & C will benefit.
wrxmania Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Well Done Craig - a triumph for you and SIDC members, and another reason for SIDC Forum users to join up as full members - two hours work will pay for the costs of membership in labour saving alone. Brian []

This new rate is cheaper than the classic rate so evaryone is a winner.[Y] Well done Craig (my need your bargaining skills when the wife find oot the costs of latest mods to Lightning McGreen)[]
frank c Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Your a credit to the club Craig.. Well done mate . Frank
thefastone Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Nice one Simmie... I just couldn't remember what it was like, so yeah, Happy as Larry!!!!
philip_wilson Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Craig, Well done the effort you put into getting this deal withT&C is just superb, it’s great to have people like you putting the effort intohelping other members benefit.
redscoobydoo Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 good lad Tam!!! hopefully get ma card soon... cp
craig mac Posted September 13, 2006 Author Posted September 13, 2006 Thank you all for your kind words[:$], However at the end of the day we are trying to build bridges, and i personally feel that Town and County, Subaru have laid a SOLID foundation stone, and it is now up to us as drivers of these cars to show them some support. If we do not take full advantage of this offer then IMHO we could well loose it. They have been good enough to offer us as members close to a 22% REDUCTION in hourly rates folks, and i for one will take full advantage of it. Also confirmed today 10% DISCOUNT STILL APPLIES TO ALL SERVICE PARTS.[] I really hope that we will all take advantage of it. On another note, i can also confirm as Simmie said, that they have recently purchased a new state of the art laser alignment tool. Kev, can and will set up your car to what ever setting you request of him. (Pity this was not the case when i got my springs done.....[] I trailed all the way to Falkland Performance, who did a great job!btw) But it would have saved me a few quid and a few hours, to have had it done here. So please show that bit of support and let the quailified experts service, adjust and fit, without fear or worry of............."oh i hope its done right" It will be!. Also you have the assurance that there work is all covered, if they fit it, and there is a problem, (Which i doubt) they will fix it Free of charge....... Now we all know that this does not apply at many other places! Craig
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Will they fit parts that you did not buy from them ? e.g Ferodo Pads or Eibach springs or a Afterburner backbox ? Just wondering becuase up until now I haven't used them for anything other than servicing Cheers Cal
craig mac Posted September 13, 2006 Author Posted September 13, 2006 Cal I have been in touch and they are going to get back to me, either today or later tomorrow. Will let you know as soon as they get back to me. Craig
gogsie Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 When I took my car down to get a knocking checked - Kev diagnosed 2 knackered shocks on drivers side. I have fancied the T25 kit and when I mentioned it to Kev he said they would be happy to fit them and set up the geometry. Imagine they will be OK for other parts.

Gogsie, Your right, he mentioned that very topic today, so i would be inclined to agree, However there may be grey area's ie Removal of cats for instance, there's the legality issue. So that example IMHO would be a no no He, himself without talking to the powers above, did not see a problem with the likes of your shocks, brake discs, back boxes, braided hoses etc. However it is yet to be confirmed and checked with the Managment.[] Craig
WUZ Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 If everyone is happy with these new rates ( good on T&C and Craig Mac for getting this sorted, great show of commitment on T&C's part)............... MAYBE I NEED TO REVIEW MY RATES...................................................in terms of INCREASING THEM! Might have to do it if everyone is happy to pay 48 +VAT for servicing[] Please note that this is not an attack on T&C, this is me having a little fun and "stirring" as things are a little quiet out here in India.[:S] Russell (bored............but getting paid to be!) ps - question for you all.....................as I am going through loads of them at the moment....................should I start charging for BHP Stickers! (donning the flamesuit right now!)[:|]
