paul_honthy Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 The Wife had to phone the RAC today because the car decided to over heat at the Shell garage. Mr RAC man said that the thermostat had stuck because the top rad pipe was hot and the bottom was cold. However once I got home from work I had a look at the motor and I found that after about 10 mins the bottom pipe starts to get warm. It has lost some coolant but no leaks (pressure tested).I presume it was lost through the overspill pipe. After about half an hour of looking at it, taking it for a run, checking the fans work ,no oil in header tank etc the car seems fine. So what do you think people? Sticking thermostat? Scotty
scoobyfuzzy Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 ma mate has recently had same kind of trouble with his, turned out to be a crack in the block, got the block welded, and it still doin the same, its now looking like the water pump is knackered. mayb worth checking ur water pump, fuzzy
paul_honthy Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 The joys!!!![] Hope to F@*k that its just the thermostat! Dont think the wife will be to happy on there pair bills if its worse case senario especially after the gearbox hassle I had with the car.[:-*]
scoobyfuzzy Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 if its not leaking any water then hopefully its just the thermostat, or mayb just an airlock even. fuzzy
