craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Folks I have a meeting on Wednesday afternoon with Town and County Subaru Aberdeen. The subject and topic of conversation will be to see where they can help us out with some deals etc for services, repairs and all types of work carried out on our cars. The meeting will be attended by T&C General Manager, T&C Service Manager and hopefully Kev the head Mechanic. So i would be grateful if you could post up your suggestions and requests so as i can put them to them on Wednesday. Please be reasonable and no cr4p out there suggestions please, as its a waste of everyones time So please keep it real and lets see what we can get in way of prices, savings etc. If we can hammer out some great offers/deals, JohnS has already mentioned a couple of ideas, and that we may be able to get them a mention in a future edition of "True Grip" So get your thinking caps on and put your ideas suggestions forward. And once more lets remember they have a business to run and are not a charity, think about your ideas before diving in I would like to go to this meet well prepared with all of your ideas. Craig
RA Dunk Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 do they offer discount to SIDC members?? if not that would be a good one
craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Ac!d Yes they already do a 10% for service and parts to SIDC Member. This is to see if we can get anything over and above this mate. Craig
bigbadboab Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 1. Why does the extended warranty cost so much? 2. Folk seem to have trouble with thier Alloy wheels corroding due to them only having a protective coating on the visible part of the wheel, what could be done about this and are they covered under warranty? 3. Can I have 50% off a Hawkeye STi[:$]?
micra_wrc Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 would they be willing to sponsor us for a portable Scottish Scoobies banner or flags similar to the ones that Spooks got made up with Dastek? think it will be logistically easier if there is a flag set up your way given the distance
craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Imy What sort of costs would a flag and some banners cost? If i have some figure for this i can put that too them and am sure they would like to have Town and County Subaru On said items Craig
micra_wrc Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Craig, its not that much but best speak to Spooks and Phil Stevens to double check [] i think there are some requirements re club logos as well as sponsors that need to be included etc etc
andy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Firstly - good on you for organising this and good on T&C for having the meeting and showing willing to work and move forward with the SIDC. T&C did my first service, but purely because I was staying at my folks at the time. They're outwith my normal area, but how about (and I thought this about all dealerships) flyers or leaflets on the counter for the SIDC. Perhaps a couple of "posed" framed photos from local meets etc up on the wall.

kloon Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Maybe a bit much Craig, but do you remember Imy and Rosie spoke about us setting up a Santa Cruise/Charity type idea up here ? Could maybe ask T & C if they'd consider sponsoring it/getting involved/giving us a loan of T & C advertised Scoob for publicity shots, etc if we got something up and running ? Be good potentially for them and us.
SergeantScooby Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I would like to find from them why they are so unwilling to touch Jap imports and even parts queries are given the cold shoulder when enquired about, i also phoned subaru UK and they were were cagey when advising me also. It might have been the case it was the particular person i spoke to but i have read about others with similar experiences. I guess its because the car was not bought from subaru UK originally but at the end of the day its revenue in their pocket and they have all the necessary equipment and parts This is not quite what you were asking for craig but if it came up in conversation it would be interesting to find out for sure the reasons.
craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Sergeant This has been suggested and has been noted, this is one BIG talking point i will take to the table m8 Craig

Be good potentially for them and us. Ari, JohnS and myself have discussed this before and i had a chat with Rosie and Spooks on Saturday. Aberdeen Bikers do this on a MASSIVE scale in Aberdeen already, and it is something we may discuss with them. We dont want to get involved and cause possible cross wires/overkill Perhaps we should contact them and ask if we can assit them raise funds and get involved in some way shape or form Craig
craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 120 plus views and very little local input. How can we try and save us all some money if no one is interested? Come on folks, make it worth my while going ahead with this Craig
spooks Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Quote would they be willing to sponsor us for a portable Scottish Scoobies banner or flags similar to the ones that Spooks got made up with Dastek? think it will be logistically easier if there is a flag set up your way given the distance Think you are all jumping the gun on this one, we have 4 flags and 2 banners that can and have been transported before to Aberdeen ( and loads of other places), there are loads of things that you could do for the club but flags and banners IMHO are not one thats a priority.
kloon Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 You know my views on local input Craig [] Might be a good idea about the bikers thing, like you say wouldn't want to step on anyones toes, but the offer of help can't hurt eh ? Wonder if they'd be willing to do a demo day or something similar ? Say for a flash of yer SIDC membership card or exchange of a few bawbees they can let us see Kev actually doing some WORK [] Nah seriously, an open day or something similar, where we can go along and have our cars looked over/advice given/questions asked, maybe get some photo opportunities in the latest Scoobs, discounted servicing/MOT's on the day, that kinda thing. Maybe not what yer looking for, am trying my best [:$]
wrxmania Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Getting them to hold events at the showroom, with test drives, food and drink supplied, discounting their prices on the night (maybe as low as top book price lol []) and free health checks on the Select Monitor (what AWD do on their open days). A similar thing is happening with the Central Meet tomorrow night @ Ian Grieve Subaru in Falkirk. Maybe also get a person at the dealer to have an SIDC link and answer Subaru related questions on the forum, or join in with the club (unless there is one already)? Brian []
phil Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 What about a dedicated Scottish Scoobies Marquee sponsored by T&C

spooks Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Meant to also say, would try and build a good relationship firstly ( although sounds as if you already do have one), I think its great that your local dealer is willing to discuss what they can do for the club and its members. I could only wish this was a universal attitude. I know S+S, Ian Grieve and Eden are interested in helping and promting SIDC, only wish more were.
st3ph3n Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 A lot of good ideas, but I agree with starting out relatively small scale. Personally I think flyers with every car/service/at the door are a great idea. We need to get some good ones made up. Would they be interested in co-branding them for the region perhaps? I like the events for enthusiasts at the garage a la tomorrow in Falkirk. So try for that. Build up a relationship and see what progresses. Don't go on the first date expecting the full service []. Good on you too Craig.
thefastone Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 One thing that I was thinking Was that last year I had my car in for an MOT It took waaaaaaaaaay longer than could ever have been anticipated and the result was that I was stuck with a seat AROSA of all blo0dy things, to do a 130 mile round trip. for a week or so. every day I had to make the journey I think that They should mebbe make more of an effort to make sure that we have AT LEAST an Impreza as a courtsey car, even when they are running low on courtsey cars... Just a thought... [:$]
craig mac Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 St3ph3n I have a great relationship with Kev, Have known him for around 5 years now from classic days through Westfield till now. He was one of the main instigators in this too. How about a SIDC tax disc holders with all new car sales? Or SIDC Town and County back window stickers? They have made it clear that they are willing and wanting to discuss costs/deals etc/services etc. Great Ideas, from some but still very little from ABZ drivers, poor show again.[] People make the effort to try things like this and all goes quiet Listen folks this is your chance to load the gun and am the man to pull the trigger so come lets hear you, you are all quick enough to moan about this that and the next about them......so now is your one chance to try and make a difference.
