stripe Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 I was planning to get my MY99 UK Turbo mapped for the Blitz Induction kit which came with the car, however due to a number of big money outlays coming soon, I am totally skint. I do however now have a brand new Apexi power intake induction kit, which I have heard is far better for the car than the Blitz one I have fitted, do you think I would be better putting the Apexi on my car, or just leave the Blitz on? Still totally paranoid about the engine exploding again!
Fly Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 to be honest m8 ud propably be better with a K&N panel filter thats just my opinion i dont trust induction kit at all
the squiggle Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Just make sure the bracket for the filter is securely fitted so the MAF does not vibrate . Apexi is a better filter than the Blitz
colin_ross Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 As Grant says, much better filtration with the Apexi and maf friendly(er) too.
harvey_smith Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Unless you are going for biggish power, (400 plus) stick with the O/E filter box, snorkle and air duct in place.
RA Dunk Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 maybe kind of a noob question, but would it be safe to use an induction kit if the car was mapped for it or could it still cause probs?
stripe Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 If the car is mapped specifically for the induction kit. i.e A/F ratio, then it's safe. To be honest, there are a lot of mixed views about induction kits, I have known them to be on Scooby's for years and the ECU hasn't been mapped, and no probs. Think I am gonna stick the Apexi one on, a far better kit I reckon! With regards to the comments about the stanard airbox, I would have that in a second, but my car came with an after market kit, and I didnt get the standard equipment as a spare. Thanks for the advice guys
