kloon Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Don't know about the funny looks as there isn't enough female Scoob drivers going around in my humble opinion ! []

How many of you peeps out there are female owners too????? And fella's is this reaction normal? [] Mandi x Hi Mandi, it could be yes [8-)] they probably look over to make eye contact to wave and are slightly surprised, and what should have be a quick glance and a wave, turns out to be a confused glance, by which time its to late to wave lol .....Your in my area, so i will keep it in mind, if we ever meet on the road, i will try and skip the surprised look and go straight into the wave []
herriots.sti Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 LOL LOL LOL. [] I like that response. It makes more sense. It's a white STI with private plate so there's no reason for the strange looks if you see me. Just give me a flash and make me feel normal, lol!!! []

[] Noted Mandi ...u will know its me, cause i will hang out my window and wave with both hands [] lol, then most likely hit the car in front ..
st3ph3n Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I would have thought a man of your talents could drive quite nicely with his knees Craig. If I see you about Mandi I will make sure and wave.
mrs. jc scoob Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi I am also a female scoob owner[],I get quite a lot of waves and also a lot of middle aged men in TDI vectra's etc trying to race me as it obviously dents their pride LOL,it's surprising that in 2006 that so many men feel women should not own or drive a powerful car! []
ormiboy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 got to be careful what you ask for, a flash means different things to different people cheers. and hello! willie
herriots.sti Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 I would have thought a man of your talents could drive quite nicely with his knees Craig. If I see you about Mandi I will make sure and wave. Thanx!!!!!!! []
johnnyr6 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi mandi, i've had a fair few stares aswell and i'm a bloke (well i was the last time i looked). I don't know if it's the noise from the car but i've even had mothers pull their kids away from the kerbside as if my car would suck em in and spit em out the exhaust...most bizzare. Funny thing is i used to get similar reaction when on my bike.
Dougie C Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi Mandi Welcome to SIDC and hope you enjoy the laughter and fun even the meets, unfortunately I don't have a scoobie yet but hopefully 1 day. Dougie
z1000 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 My missus gets the same and it drives her nuts, it's just part and parcel of owning a nice car.
micra_wrc Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 hi Mandi, welcome to the forums [] I'm a female scoob driver and i get various looks when i'm out in my scoob, from young chavs in their souped up cars glancing over then doing a double take with their mouths open and gaping, to middle aged men giving me the eye and wanting to race. i also get the ar$es that look, see i'm female then dont let me out/sit really close in front/behind me. That really winds me up....... as if i shouldnt be driving a scoob or something and i'm insulting their masculinity by being behind the wheel [:@] craigwrx's reply is spot on, by the time other male drivers realise its a female driving a scoob, its too late to respond/react. its not always like that though, other scoob drivers give me a wave and this bunch here are always courteous on the road []
scoobaroo Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I knew that big raincoat of mine would come in handy one day [] Ill defo give you a "flash" if i see you [], oh, and i will also give you the lights and wave [] By the way welcome Mandy [Y] Marty.
nitchiec Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hi Mandi I know exactly what you mean, I also get this confused look and sometimes I manage to lip read their comments of "Oh my god it's a woman driving" I was stopped at traffic lights a few weeks ago when a guy in a M3 asked was my partners car fast, I wasn't long in putting him right lol Nikki
vicki Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hi Mandi and Welcome to SIDC [] I get some funny looks from guys when I am driving my car but I just ignore it now. It's as if they think it can't possibly be my car [:^)] At least everyone on here knows its my car and wave if they see me. That's all I care about now, my friends in this club. Everytime we pass a scooby my daughter will say "They didn't wave mum, they must not be in YOUR club" lol Vicki x

Everytime we pass a scooby my daughter will say "They didn't wave mum, they must not be in YOUR club" lol Vicki x LOL that's so true, everyone always assumes that it's my mans car, do they think i'm just driving it for the sake of my health!!!!!! I like seeing other woman driving Scoobs, and it's good to blow those little chavs away at the lights when they think we're sitting there fixing our lipstick and reading closer!!!!!! []
herriots.sti Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 I knew that big raincoat of mine would come in handy one day [] Ill defo give you a "flash" if i see you [], oh, and i will also give you the lights and wave [] By the way welcome Mandy [Y] Marty. [] LOL Thanks Marty, i'll keep my eyes open for someone driving about naked then, lol.[]

Funny thing is i used to get similar reaction when on my bike. LOL. Your funny. I think some folks think that people who drive these kinds of cars are automatically dangerous, which isn't true. Generally the women and men who drive these type of cars are really good and careful drivers.
lescazscoob Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 i am also a female scooby driver thats when he isnt here to drive it LOL!! but i agree you do get some strange loooks and comments such as 'but thats a mans car' but when asking what they drive its clio, corsa, saxo etc. makes me laugh when they see the car and try to keep up and then when they see a woman get out thats it they say that they werent even trying yeh right!! i also wave at all scoobies get a few waves back but a lot of confused stares!!!
herriots.sti Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Here's an example for you. I was out in the car on Sunday night and went over to hamilton macdonalds, Well everyone was shocked to see a woman in the car. I pulled up next to an Evo, and the guys automatically assumed that it wasn't my car. They said that i was driving my boyfriends car and i said no he drives my car, lol!!! [] Only kidding. We share the car, we both wanted a subaru and we got a better car because we both pulled together.
Fee Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I get funny looks in mine too...but then again I also get funny looks in the range rover, the porsche and the 205 (especially when I take it to work and try to clamber over the door bars in my skirt! [:$] )! I dont think any of them are really 'girlie' cars. Saying that....Adam tends to get funny looks in my car too....I think people see the plate and then look up to check me out and get a bit of a shock when it's actually a guy driving!
Fly Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Lol i know pamela get funny looks when driving hers put i know she loves it really Lol
