Taking a dump - Advice please?

Bought and fitted a DV12 Bailey dump valve to my 06 STi 2.5. It's sounding nice[:P], but, I feel it's somehow sapping a tiny bit of the power[^o)], i.e. more noticable in 4th/5th and 6th cos they aren't pulling as crisply as before. Any ideas folks? Appreciated.[:)]

Bry,

I have the same problem with my Classic fitted with a DV10 (supplied and fitted
thanks to Wallace Per4mance). I've tried putting back on the standard valve and
it fine fitted the DV10 again and it’s not so good.

I’ve just bought a cheap boost gauge today to see what the difference
in boost is with the DV10 and standard, as I’m 99% certain its down to the DV
dump Valve and not the fitting. I will let you know what I find out.

Plus, forgot to mention, the lads at Wallace Performance fitted it - and it looked like they fitted it perfectly.

You be a brave man mate, get the fitment checked out

To be honest mate, I watched them doing it, and I know a thing or two, and I know they fitted it perfectly. I appreciate the advice tho[H]

To everyone who has taken the time to reply - thanks. If anyone else has any further view/opinion please let me know - I'd really like to get this one sorted.

cheers

That's a bit unfair if they were as bad as everyone makes

out wtf is Gav still in business after all these years. I've had load of things

done by them and never had a problem or if there has been, things have been put

right. Also how come it's only ever the bad thing people post about companies?

If you really dig deep enough you will find bad in ever company. So give the

guy a break.

p.s this is not an invitation for the bitches to start bitching.

Pretty simple to diagnose - first get a boost gauge (it doesn't need to be the dearest or have to be fitted - just a long length of vacuum hose out the back of the bonnet and in through a slightly open window), and take the car for a run, noting boost figures, especially in 4th, 5th and 6th, and over the rev range at say 3K, 4K, 5K and 6K. Now take the dump valve off and refit the original re-circ valve, and test under exactly the same conditions. This will give back to back figures to compare how both are working. Oh, incidentally, get someone to passenger with you to take a note of the readings, rather than trying to do it all yourself whilst giving it large.

Alternatively take it back to Wallace and ask them to check it.

No other mods yet mate. Mods in the future will be induction kit, full decat with up/down pipes, larger turbo, FMIC etc. £5k - 400bhp plus methinks.

The PPP exhaust sounds OK on my motor, but I'd like something that sounds that little bit deeper to let the flat four burble out!

Bry,

I fitted a boost gauge and compared the DV10 and the
Standard DV and my findings are, with the standard DV peek boost pressure is 13psi 0.9bar
and with the DV10 it drops to a peek as low as 10psi 0.69 and is all over the place under load. So like Cal
said you will probably need to tension up the spring so it doesn't leak or lift
of too early.
