bryan_taylor Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Bought and fitted a DV12 Bailey dump valve to my 06 STi 2.5. It's sounding nice[], but, I feel it's somehow sapping a tiny bit of the power[^o)], i.e. more noticable in 4th/5th and 6th cos they aren't pulling as crisply as before. Any ideas folks? Appreciated.[] Bry
st3ph3n Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Have you got a boost gauge fitted? It could be that you've not quite fitted it properly and your leaking a bit-o-boost.
bryan_taylor Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 Nope, dinna hae a boost gauge, any recommendations on how I can check if I'm down on boost? Cheers For the reply[]
bryan_taylor Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 Plus, forgot to mention, the lads at Wallace Performance fitted it - and it looked like they fitted it perfectly. Bry
philip_wilson Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Bry, I have the same problem with my Classic fitted with a DV10 (supplied and fittedthanks to Wallace Per4mance). I've tried putting back on the standard valve andit fine fitted the DV10 again and it’s not so good. I’ve just bought a cheap boost gauge today to see what the differencein boost is with the DV10 and standard, as I’m 99% certain its down to the DVdump Valve and not the fitting. I will let you know what I find out. Philip_w
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 You might need to tension up the spring so it doesn't leak or lift of too early. Not sure how you do that on a DV10 though.

I appreciate the advice tho[H] To everyone who has taken the time to reply - thanks. If anyone else has any further view/opinion please let me know - I'd really like to get this one sorted. cheers Bry

Bry You be a brave man mate, get the fitment checked out That's a bit unfair if they were as bad as everyone makes out wtf is Gav still in business after all these years. I've had load of things done by them and never had a problem or if there has been, things have been put right. Also how come it's only ever the bad thing people post about companies? If you really dig deep enough you will find bad in ever company. So give the guy a break. p.s this is not an invitation for the bitches to start bitching.
craig mac Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Well Phil Your car needs looking at[] Its too slow[] PMSL Craig
craigdmcd Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Pretty simple to diagnose - first get a boost gauge (it doesn't need to be the dearest or have to be fitted - just a long length of vacuum hose out the back of the bonnet and in through a slightly open window), and take the car for a run, noting boost figures, especially in 4th, 5th and 6th, and over the rev range at say 3K, 4K, 5K and 6K. Now take the dump valve off and refit the original re-circ valve, and test under exactly the same conditions. This will give back to back figures to compare how both are working. Oh, incidentally, get someone to passenger with you to take a note of the readings, rather than trying to do it all yourself whilst giving it large. Alternatively take it back to Wallace and ask them to check it.
philip_wilson Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Craig [:'(] It's only slow because its still standard has a missfire and the dog eat my homework plus BLOODY BLUE THUNDER IS TOO FECKING FAST NOW[]lol pmsl [] but not for long as Andy F & Empty bank account here wecome [] Phil
craig mac Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Standard LOL Well good luck in the "catch me if you can" quest. Just save your money, Thunder will be available in 2 years.....Maybe if the price is right[] Craig
peter_macgowan Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Bry have you done any other mods to the car ie exhaust. I want to get an exhaust for mine but unsure what one to get on the 06. Not many going around to listen to atm.
bryan_taylor Posted August 14, 2006 Author Posted August 14, 2006 No other mods yet mate. Mods in the future will be induction kit, full decat with up/down pipes, larger turbo, FMIC etc. £5k - 400bhp plus methinks. The PPP exhaust sounds OK on my motor, but I'd like something that sounds that little bit deeper to let the flat four burble out! Bry
philip_wilson Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Back to the topic Bry,I fitted a boost gauge and compared the DV10 and theStandard DV and my findings are, with the standard DV peek boost pressure is 13psi 0.9barand with the DV10 it drops to a peek as low as 10psi 0.69 and is all over the place under load. So like Calsaid you will probably need to tension up the spring so it doesn't leak or liftof too early. Philip_w
