Calling RO's

You don't have to be a RO to organise an event Craig. Just as long as you let folks know what you want to do and give a bit of warning then go for it. I am sure advice and encouragement will be forthcoming.

That’s very true zeolite and seems to be the case as late,

almost every run/event I’ve attended planning to attend has been organised by

same group of members, and it would be nice to see the Club and its appointed

organisers arrange Club events like this instead of the same individuals doing

it all the time. This is in no way a dig at any of the RO’s as you guy’s and

girls do a good job for the club but I feel the members need to get a bit more support

when it comes to organising club events like this one at Crail on the 10th September.

Phil...As regards events; This was a question that Spooks put up on wed night. "What do you want?" if there are events that folk want to do then they should let the ROs know about them. I hadn't heard about this Crail event before and I am sure I am not alone. if we don't know about them then we can't do anything. Spooks has been busy this year (as always) with F and M, Jim Clark and Santa cruise events, Del has run a few events with a big day for the RB run, Ken just did the national day with JohnS, Paul555, Ally-b and JC are pretty new in the job and getting settled in and I have been offshore most of the year (although we have a run at the end of the month.) Don't forget that JohnS runs 3 track days a year as well.

My point is that we need notice and enthusiasm to get things arranged. Let your RO know what you want to do in good time and if they can't do it they can delegate to someone who can.

Having said all that I can't make the Sept 10th as I will be racing at an autocross in the borders (if I am at home)but as I said before you don't need an RO.

Zeolite,

The whole point of Craig Mac’s posts was to bring this event
to the attention of the SIDC RO’s & members, and if you read my first reply post you will have seen I acknowledge the RO’s do a good job for the club.

With this event at Crail being run for Car
Club’s
I personally feel it would be nice if the Club and its appointed organisers
arrange it with the help of the members.

The whole point of my reply to your
post is to put my point across, that for CLUB EVENTS I feel that SIDC and its
APPOINTED ORGANISERS should be organising it with the help of the member not
the other way round. As for your comment “as I said before you don't
need an RO.” If this is the case why appoint them????.

An R.O.'s job is not arrange every event.  They are also there to assist member in their areas with things such as events etc  They are there as a central liaison point for members.

Brian,

I don’t think anyone expects the RO’s to organise every
event. But for CLUB EVENTS like this at Crail then yes.

Going by the reply’s from some of the RO’s whats the point.

Guy's I think this is being taken out of context. What I imagine Craig was doing was pointing out this event to the rest of the board (It was actually me that spotted it on the Crail website first). Looking at what it says it looks like it could be a biggie and would be great exposure for the Club. Don't think he was saying "your an RO, sort it", more here's a chance for the Club to get together as a whole and organise something for this event and do any of the RO's, Fife especially i'd imagine, feel it's worth pursuing.

How I see it anyway.

Yes I feel its worth pursuing, but as Ian pointed out we have only been aware of it since 8:08 this morning....Spooks is coming over to mine on Sunday and we will discuss what we can do to help get the club a presence.......

I was not objecting to Craigs idea of doing the event, more to the idea that I sit with my finger up my intercooler doing nothing for the club.....

So I will come back to you when I have had a chance to discuss with the other RO's what we can do to pull this one together.....

Lads thats is well spoted[y]

Looks like a great event for the club, i will be able to attend this, and will do anything i can to help. [:D]

Paul has (as stated above) sent crail an e-mail to get the ball rolling, nice one Paul[:D]

Once we suss out the details ie what is envolved and how many folk/cars from each club are allowed to reprsent our club we can start to sort it out.

One thing is for sure there are a lot of very competitive cars from this club, and with a bit of luck we get the chance to bring home some so called "supercar" scalp,  mon the scoobs !! [:D]
