scoobyfuzzy Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 ive had an induction filter on ma scoob for about 6 months, been hearing some good n bad things about them, so i decided to put the standard air box and filter back on. when i had the induction filter on the car didnt seem to accelarate a quick as it used to when i first bought it, then when i put the standard airbox back on, it accelerating a lot quicker now, more like it used when i bought the car, any off u guys ever had this with a induction fiter? oh yeah n ma exhaust sounds loader aswell now. fuzzy
the squiggle Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Fit a cone filter to a std ECU and the car will over fuel. Great for flamer kits but sadly not for performance. Get a decent panel filter and be happy Panel filter and std airbox is good for 350hp
johnnyr6 Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Not uncommon this, your ind. kit, unless used with a good heat sheild, was prob sucking in warm air from the engine bay leading to a loss in power, it may also have needed set up to compensate for the increase in air being sucked in. your exhaust prob sounds louder now as you won't have the induction roar you get with an ind. kit, (airbox sucks the air in quieter).
flat4phil Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Probably not drawing in as much hot air from the engine as with the induction cone. Also the length of the flexible collar between the filter (inlet) and the MAF unit can make a difference too - a bit like the old days when you had bell mouths on twin 40 DCOE Weber, or Dellorto carbs. Too short, or too long made a big difference to air/ fuel mixture. Just get a performance filter element to fit your air box?!
