CAT PIPE INFO

Recommended Posts

All,

I am after a diagram or webpage that shows me what my exhaust system should look like (2005 STI).

The previous owner tells me when he traded it in he left the "cat pipe" on it. I want the diagram/website to see if the

dealer has replaced it with an original "cat" or not. How will this effect the warranty ?

I believe that this car should have 3 "cats" ? (1 on turbo inlet, 1 on turbo outlet (downpipe) and 1 in length) ?

Any info much appreciated.

Going to bed as just finished night shift, will check posting when I get up.[|-)]

Cheers Kevin.

Sorry but I dont have diagrams, your car will only have 2 cats, 1 in the downpipe and one in the main exhaust.

I think im right in saying that it was only the newage wrx's that had 3 cats.

I would take a pic of mine but unfortunately my standard exhaust is back on the car

The standard cats have large bulky heatshields on them, I think most sportscats are alot smaller (on my loud exhaust I got rid of them all[6].)

Spotrs cats shouldnt invalidate the warranty and if you had no cats you would still have a limited warranty (thats why im back to standard[:D] (far too quiet)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the diagrams, they are exactly what I was looking for (looks like my car has the de-cat pipe fitted).

Next question is what do you mean by "limited warranty" ?

What effect will this de-cat pipe have on the engine management (does it require adjustment)?

Will it run better or worse if it has not had any adjustment ?

Cheers Kevin
