rabskyline Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 as above. i want to up the boost a little and need to fit a boost controller. is there anyone in south ayrshire worthy of fitting/selling me one and any for sale ?
drb5 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Electronic or manual? I have a manual one for sale, just like a Dawes valve. £15 Easy to fit and setup. You need a boost gauge and i'd suggest a Knocklink and AFR gauge too.
jcscoob Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 There is a load of other things to do first, but each to there own !!!
jcscoob Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Na mate i just dont want rab getting mega boost and melting stuff, should he not get a pump and FPR first !?!
rabskyline Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 digital boost controller like an sbc should be good for limiting boost . gauge isnt necessary .and the type like an avcr have knock sensor capability dont they ??
the squiggle Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Why would you not fit a Dawes device.? Awesome for making the boost profile flat and making the turbo hit as hard as possible. AVC-R has no knock control or display feature, S-AFC has a knock display Monitoring equipment is vital if you are wanting to strangle a UK ecu into new territory
drb5 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Quote Na mate i just dont want rab getting mega boost and melting stuff, should he not get a pump and FPR first !?! Gotcha and no, a pump and fpr aren't needed. The ecu's fuel cut will tell him not to go to much anyway. [] Wise words from Grant there....perfectly good boost controller, is the Dawes. [H]
rabskyline Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 i heard loads of bad stuff about these ball bearing tye of boost controllers on the skyline forum. spikes etc....i want good solid boost control. i am not into too much techno as that isnt what i want. i want solid power without having to look at five hundred gauges. my last car was like a bloody curries showroom ! screens and dials everywhere ! so if a dawes devices and a gauge will do then thats great. !!
paddy247 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Id always recomend a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and f.c.d when increasing the boost, along with all the usuall guages to moniter what the cars doing, Nothing wrong with the manual boost controller I had one before my blitz electronic one. I would uprate the fuel pump to be safe as it may not be up to the job of pressure and flow depending on how much boost you want, cant remember the figures of the top of my head but I think the realese valve on the standard pump will not fuel you to run 1.2 1.3 bar ect so not much use. correct me if im wrong please as we are all here to learn.[] Paddy.
