rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 if you feed the solenoid hose back into itself rather than onto the t piece(and block them off) do you get more boost ?? if not what is the way to do it and is it safe?
dougster Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 NOT SAFE. You can increase the boost a little with a manual boost control valve but I would not recommend doing this unless you have a good boost guage and afr meter.
rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 when i was cleaning them out one of them split so i disconnected the two parts from the manifold and the actuator. it pulled like a train ! but when i put them back on (correctly , well that is the question) it didnt pull so good !
dougster Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Your car will boost 0.9bar standard. With a dawes boost control valve on my similar UK car I was boosting at 1.15bar. The td04l won't take much more than that.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Agreed................with a remap and an up-pipe cat in place mine was running 1.12 bar ( TD04) Now decatted the up-pipe but would not venture beyond 1.25 CGS
rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 can a std ecu be remapped ? and to what gains powerwise ?
the squiggle Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 If you are a trader, sell it on and get an early WRX. Better spec as std and easily tunable due to the better starting point
rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 erm yes ! btw are you a trader by any chance ?? i buy and sell uk cars as a part time interest ie audis, fords, mercs, etc etc. not jp performance cars. i keep a nice toy for myself ! what are you looking for ??
rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 If you are a trader, sell it on and get an early WRX. Better spec as std and easily tunable due to the better starting point i think thats what i'll do !
johnnyr6 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 If your going to change it go for an sti but bear in mind they are more expensive to insure but imho well worth it. If you can afford it the type r is the one to get, dccd etc. the ra also has the dccd and exta weight saving but it's a bit more uncomfortable to live with (shorter gearing etc.). Bear in mind though that a good uk car can be made to go just as quick with the benefit of cheaper ins.
rabskyline Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 i can get a v 4 type r and its a belter but only 2 doors ! thats the main reason for getting rid of the skyline !
bigdavie Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 well there is always my 4 door turbo that is putting out 265 + with a reprogramable ecu !! ie ecutek !! with a ton of work already done and would be willing to do a deal with or without ice !! and also if you have a big nice barnstormer in stock !! lol and although its green !! so is yours at the mo !!
craig mac Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 mmmmmmmmmmm Why am i running 1.5 bar of boost then, that's before the pending upgrade work [] on the standard vf Turbo? Craig
