paul_honthy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Most of you probably know already but the Shell garage in Maybole is now selling the new 100 RON Optimax. Scotty
irish al Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Out of interest does it actually say 100 ron anywhere on the pumps, the handle or even the receipt ?? Al
paul_honthy Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 No.Spoke to the boss, said they had been told by Shell to run the tanks down of the old Optimax ready for the new 100 RON 2nd week of July. The guy and woman who work there didn't know but the gaffer was pretty clued up.Said that it will be going up to 102p per litre but got to be worth it in the long run.
irish al Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I dont think it is 100ron. There is no way that shell would introduce this and not have it advertised all over the country. look at how much advertising there was when optimax was released. Anyway, by law they cant sell 100ron if the pumps and signs dont dont do what they say on the tin so if its still 98ron on the label then it will be 98ron. My ex changed the settings at a Sainsbury petrol station as part of her job. One day the sign in the forecourt was 1 penny different from what the actual pump said and by chance a trading standerds guy was in the petrol station to fill up. Sainsburys were made to shutdown the petrol station until a full investigation was carried out, tanks check they had correct fuel, costs checked, trainig procedures checked, the whole works. Just for 1 penny. Imagine what would happen to Shell if they were caught selling something different than advertised. Al
oletam Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 The Shell garage at Glencairn Sq, Kilmarnock told me the same. I filled up there a couple of times and there did seem to be a difference. Then filled up again with BP Ultimate and it seems to be a bit slower and higher fuel consumption. Maybe just in the head though!
oz *sti* Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 So at the mo some people are saying there is new optimax 100 ron and others are saying no way, I've spoken to the manager of the shell garage that I use in the west end of Glasgow he knows nothing of this new fuel, I'm not saying to you guys who have been told it is 100 ron that it is not, but there is nothing to say it is i've checked the shell websites here's the u.k one - http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?siteId...troduction.html no sign of the new 100 ron at all very strange!?! So my question is has anyone heard, read or seen any media reports about the new 100 ron? I own a classic import so I hope the talk is true and 100 ron is on it's way []
