STi_Bandit Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 What things can you do to a Newage subaru to make it lighter, not looking to strip out interiors and such like just remove any exse weight like boot liner maybe dont fancy leaving the spare tire out, Still want to keep the interior looking standard. Martin
st3ph3n Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 The space saver weighs loads. I had mine out for 6 months and only put it back in for a recent road trip. Does it even fit over the calipers on the front of an STI? Get yourself a can of that expanding tyre filler stuff. Moving swiftly on - your wheels. Swapping to a nice set of forged jap numbers will save a good few kilos per corner, and as we all know 1kg saved off the rolling mass is like 10 everywhere else. De-wing it too, or replace it with a CF one. My CF wing weighs in about 1/2 of what the standard WRX ironing board did.
drb5 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Supposebly theres a rather large subframe under the engine, which isn't really needed and weighs about 25 kilos IIRC. I reckon AndyF removed his from his WRX...dunno if he came across any problems after taking it off.
STi_Bandit Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 Is the subframe not there as crash protection like a crumple zone, wouldt want to go removing anything like that Martin
drb5 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Maybe give Andy a shout, as i really wouldn't like to say either way mate.
