Guest AlanK Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Just got my first 'real' car at the weekend and found the back rattles a fair bit. Previous owner thought it was the pull out cargo cover but after mate sitting in the back of the car we found it was the tail gate itself. By putting a folded cloth between the tail gate and the car before shutting it (just sitting on the trim to the left of the latch) the noise goes. Is this common? cant see any reason for it other than its not a very tight fit - gonna find some thick rubber to stick in place.
Big Daz Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 wind some insulation tape round the catch on the bottom of the boot, mine did the same & this fixed it nicely Daz[]
seafar99 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Could'nt have put it better Big Daz, mine was exactly like this also.
Johnny50 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Yep, bit of a common problem. I've got a pair of yellow dusters stopping mine from rattling ! []
fiefster Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I had this with my MY00 wagon. The cure was to loosen the two bolts on the tailgate lock and slightly adjust the lock mechanism left or right depending (mm's involved here). Voila, rattle gone! HTH Mike
