simon_mcwilliam Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Got a small problem with my scoob when it is idling. It will sit idling as it should then revs drop slightly, offering to cut out, then go back to normal. Any thoughts would be appreciated. It is a my97 uk wagon,(It does not bring on the engine check light.)
simon_mcwilliam Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 Cheers m8 will give that a go, hope that solves it as it is a pain in ****.Keep thinking it is goin to die on me
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 has anybody got a photo of their engine bay that shows where this ICV is cause mine sometimes does this and i'd like to sort this out also. cheers craig.
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 thanks grant just done a ICV search and found that you've posted this up before, can you shed any light on what's needing removed to be cleaned?
the squiggle Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 You have a coolant feed and an air feed Remove unit with 4 bolts Inside the coolant feed of the ICV is a Bimetallic strip that rects to the coolant temp, this gets gunked up though time and requires a good clean out with brake cleaner Same idea with the Air feed, this usually gets coked up with carbon deposits and again a damn good clean out with brake cleaner will suffice Refit with new gasket to prevent air leaks after the MAF sensor
bigdavie Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 disconnect the wiring plug and undo the 2 screws withdraw the unit put it in a small tub to reduce the mess !! and use carb cleaner spray to clean it then its a case of refitting !! btw if you dont have carb cleaner use some wd40 ! hth !
bigdavie Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 squirrell we dont seem to be talking about the same thing here ??!!
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 if i post up this picture can someone identify the offending icv .
bigdavie Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 well i dont have the know how to draw on the pic you have posted up seafar but i was told it was the component to the immediate left of that forge dump valve you have there mate
the squiggle Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I am more clued with the phase 1 engines I am 97.5% certain that the idle valve in the picture is located behind the coil pack on the Phase 2 engine
