Whats the rough limit bhp wise if i stick with a hks panel filter?

As above, in the next couple of months i am hoping to make a few quid from a house sale (fingers crossed).

Im thinking of getting lager injectors( 550cc from andy F ) the fuel pump and reg upgrade also a larger top mount i/c

This will of course be tied together with a power FC re-map ( andy f again ) but im wondering if my current hks panel filter will hold this up, or are panel filters in general able to flow enough air for 330-350 bhp??

I aready have a full de-cat with a HKS super dragger back box so think im ok-ish in the exhaust dept, apart from the fact that the dragger is a wee bit passed it and will be replaced soon.

The car only made 270bhp and 245 ft a couple of months ago at dastek which was not bad but nearer 300 would have been nice.  The commander recorded the injectors maxing out so i think with this overall spec i might see near the 350 bhp mark with a bit more fuel and mapping to suit.

So will i be adding an induction kit to the mix or just a new filter??

any comments appreciated

Personally, i would get an Apexi induction kit and throw the panel filter away, purely as it can do no wrong when it comes to getting mapped, whereas with the panel filter, it may well be restrictive and you don't wanna hear Andy saying that, when you could have changed them before the session. [:)]

Depends a bit on what turbo etc, if your going above 350hp, but i would think from what you've said, the Apexi filter should be fine.

Thanks for your thoughts mate.

Good point about it being a bit late when  the cars out being mapped.

As for going above 350 bhp...i think id have to upgrade my talent at the wheel first so i think ill be leaving it at 350 should it actually get there in the first place.

Am i right in thinking that you can chuck un apexi induction kit on with a power FC as you can tell it the kit type and it can adjust for the correct intake diameter?

Im sure andy said something like that during mapping, and there is a menu within the commander which has a few apexi kits you can select.

Id be tempted to stick on an apexi induction kit soon but if im maxing out my injectors at the moment i can see problems with even more air flow.

thanks again drb5

roll on the house sale :D

Lol, no worries. Good luck with the house sale indeed. I'm sticking mine up for sale in about a month, so here's hoping it works out for all of us! [:D]

As for the induction kit and adjusting diameter on the PFC, i'm not sure mate. I'd wait till you have all the mods you want on it and fit them all just before mapping. That way, your not having to stop yourself hammering it, incase it pops.

Sorry about asking another question on your topic but it's to do with the A'PEXi Power Intake Induction Kit.

I got to try one out on my car and what a difference in induction noise and standard recirc dump valve noise, very nice.

Just not sure on if this could harm my engine in any way without getting a remap etc. Don't want to pay out for a remap just for some noise as I'm not bothered about any power gains or losses.

I see the A'PEXi is not a cold air intake system so could the hotter engine temp do any harm?

Car is a STi 8 Type UK with PPP and Blitz Nur Spec S backbox, no other engine mods.

Or what about keeping the standard air intake setup and just getting a VTA dump valve Forge, Blitz etc.

Thanks for any advice,

Stephen.

No worries Willie and thanks. [H]

Stephen, i'd consider your car to be perfectly fine running in the state of tune it is at the moment. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't.....and if it wasn't fine, then it's prolly down to something not right with the car, rather than the mods fitted.
