darryl_martin Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Couldn't get mine out of my classic. Was told take out the screws either side and pull!!!! Didn't fancy breaking a finger by pulling on the latch, so wrapped some string round it and tried that. String snapped, nearly punched myself in the face, pocket hardly budged[:@]. Did find a website showing pics of what it looks like out, will have another look for you.
granby Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 String snapped, nearly punched myself in the face, pocket hardly budged[:@] fpmsl The amount of times i've nearly done that aswell [] and it hurts when you do make contact [:'(]
darryl_martin Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/659962/ShowPost.aspx It seems the pocket is also held in with tape as well as the two screws, and two clips either side of the vents. As I said I failed, but peeps are saying that once you break the adhesive it comes out easier. Might some heat on it help with this(hairdryer, melt the glue a bit)? Be careful with the prising it out bit. My dashboard was quite spongy and tried to crease as soon as I applied any pressure, creases took about two months to finally go. Good luck!
daniel Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Cheers for that - i'll have another go tomorrow.
Pele Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Daniel, you have to be quite rough with it [] It's suprising the abuse the interior will take before it lets go of parts you want to remove lol Also when mine was removed, there was no glue or tape, just the screws and the clips. I still have the binnacle here, so I'm just going to have a look at it so I can see where the clips are for you[]
Pele Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Also dont forget it's attached to the two air vents below it so they have to be pulled out too - hope your handy with a hacksaw lol. OK here you go - When youve taken the two screws out there are two square holes just below, these allow you access to the two clips which face outwards, so you need to get a small flat head screwdriver and push them until they pop out each side, then pull the whole thing towards you as there are no other clips to be prised off. Hope this helps Pele
