ASTiMAN Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I heard a rumour that there is going to be a 1/4 mile event at Jurby in July. Wondered if anyone else had heard this, as I can't find any details. If it is on, then I will be entering. Kind regards Andrew
heazille Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Check out the Straightliners web site as they where running it last year. http://www.straightliners.co.uk/print_list.htm They even had a local versus visitors league with handicaps and the isle of man won!![] With a Saxo[:$] Was good though, iirc it was £30 for as many runs as you liked on saturday with knockout comp on the sunday Ta Ta Richard
ASTiMAN Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 Thanks Richard - it looks like it is just for bikes though[]
Cret Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 They even had a local versus visitors league with handicaps and the isle of man won!![] With a Saxo[:$] Indeed that was the case but the fastest time of the weekend was set by an old series 1 RS Legacy like mine. 11.02 I believe..... It did have slightly more mods than mine though!!
enCrypt Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Think theres two days normally, one for bikes, one for cars. I had a go last year but I was looking after the car too much so the times were pitiful![:$] Dont think I'll bother again!
ASTiMAN Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 I believe the dates are 21st, 22nd and 23rd July - events for cars and bikes, according to www.manxpower.com. Has anybody seen that site! I didn't realise it existed - seems like a pick up room for the youngsters!! Still nothing about cars on www.straightliners.co.uk though. Anyone else up for a Saxo & Nova bashing??!!

Manx minx Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Sounds like fun[][] Re manx power seen a few nova's etc advetising this site a few years ago. Nix[]
Cret Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Manx Power no longer exists. Someone foolishly began slagging off certain police officers and making allegations about their private lives for some reason, which subsequently led to the forum being shut down as the comments were pretty libellous. Many have migrated to the new forum www.iomcars.net though since.[]
ASTiMAN Posted July 18, 2006 Author Posted July 18, 2006 Is anyone going to Jurby on Friday? My mate has decided to go for a holiday in Sweden and I could do with someone to crew for me (just a case of carrying and storing some tools and fuel etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be travelling from Glen Vine. Kind regards Andrew
Dave K Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I've booked friday off to go up, so can give you a hand if you like. Dave.
ASTiMAN Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Dave - your a star man. Sorry to hear about your mechanical problems by the way. I can give you some advice if you like having "been there done that got the T shirt". I believe the racing starts at noon, so it gives some time to load up in the morning. It's probably best if you give me a ring on 497135. Kind regards Andrew
enCrypt Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Also off on Friday and off upto Jurby, so can give a lift if required...

Dave K Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Great day today, except the bird $hite situation.[:@] Hitting me was'nt enough, just as I left one emptied all over my car big time.[8o|] Was a bit lacking on the car front though.
Manx minx Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Great day today, except the bird $hite situation.[:@][um] Hitting me was'nt enough, just as I left one emptied all over my car big time.[8o|] Was a bit lacking on the car front though. So dave I hope you did the lottery then as you must be twice as lucky now . It was funny though lol just glad it missed me[um] good to catch up with everyone today. Nix []
Cret Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I would have been pretty cross if that happened to me up there seeing as the car went through the car wash about half an hour before I drove up there!!
Dave K Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Good day at Jurby, Andrew won the Manx v's visitors for those that dont know. So congrats Andrew.[] Final was based on handicap again, but unfortunately resulted in the OMA impreza throwing a rod as it went into 5th gear for the finish line.[] And best pic of the day has to be this, kept it large so you get the full facial expression!;
andrew_field Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Some nice pics there Dave. Good driving aswell Andrew. what was your best time? Off to Ten of the Best this weekend. See if Andy Forrest can beat his new time of 9.3s and there is some nutter going for the 0-300kph record in a Skyline. He needs to beat 13s, fast.
ASTiMAN Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Best time was 12.33 which I did exactly 3 times out of 23 runs, with best terminal 121mph. OMA managed a best of 11.47. Mikee Singh had the same problem as me - Type R gearbox ratios and he could only manage around 12.3 until putting in longer UK ratios, which instantly saw him to 11.3. Garret GT30 and PPG straight cut dog box with longer ratios should see the car into the 10's! I would like to thank Dave for the support and lugging all my bits and pieces around all weekend, and for the great pics and videos. Kind regards Andrew
