SCR4PPY Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Hi, Just joined tonight and haven't bought a Scooby yet, but will be over the next month or so. I only have a budget of up to £7000 so nothing to flash. I would prefer something no or minimal mod's. Any you guys got a suggestion of what to look for or a web page that will give me stats on the cars I look at? Like a kinda buyers guide? Have seen a black 2001, bug eyed, one in a garage on East Kilbride but it has 110k on the clock, is this safe???? Cheers David
gus the bus Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Welcome mate! Have a wee look in the For Sale Section above. A few fine specimens available. 110k miles on a turbo!!!! I'd suspect you could find a few better mileaged cars for yer money! How about Dan Terzo's motor in the F/S section? a very fine example. or Steves Wagon? in your budget (almost) and very low miles! Just click on the links below http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/593664/ShowPost.aspx or http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/678828/ShowPost.aspx Gus
weeb Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 hi m8, are you looking for newage or classic? some good cars in "for sale and wanted" on this forum. £7k is a good start, u could get a 2dr type r, later model sti. 110k on the clock, bit high for me!
G.T. Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 yeah seen dans motor at kames the other week and it looks sweet [Y]
vicki Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Hello and Welcome [] 110k is a bit high, I think. It took me months to find the scoob and a lot of patience [^o)] Good luck []
fai17 Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Hi and welcome. When buying cars you should always take your time and buy the right one[]
dan_jess Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Cheers for the free plugs guys! Car is still for sale, if ur interested, drop me a PM and i will sort out a viewing []
AVI_8 Posted May 19, 2006 Posted May 19, 2006 Its quite tempting when looking for a car to buy the first one you see that looks straight and in not bad condition, especially as murphys law dictates that when the time comes when your looking for one, there are usually fewer locally to choose from. Thats the position I found myself in last year when I was looking for my first Scoob, i spent nearly 2 months looking before finding a standard one, 5 year old classic (except for PPP which was fitted when new) in very good condition and only 54,000 on the clock. I'm not saying that the one with 110,000 on the clock will be a bad car but it might not be so easy to sell in 2-3 years time with 150,000 on the clock. Look on the autotrader website and increase the search distance, if you click on national you'll see that there are hundreds for sale I got mine locally from a website called www.pistonheads .com Happy hunting
SCR4PPY Posted May 21, 2006 Author Posted May 21, 2006 Guys, Cheers for all the advice. Think I will be giving the 110k 2001 a miss. I'm going to have a look in the cars for sale section now, think this may take me a few months!!! Cheers, David
gus the bus Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 David, thats the best thing to do! Take your time. PS I'm just up the road from you in Farthill so keep an eye oot for me P*GUS is the plate[] I'll look out for the Alpha until you get the scoob. Gus
SCR4PPY Posted May 21, 2006 Author Posted May 21, 2006 Cheers Gus, I'll keep an eye out mate, it's a black 156 with LDD at the end of the plate, so if you see it flashing it's me! I'll keep all of you posted how I get on and probably ask millions of questions!!! Does anyone have such a thing as a buyers guide laying about that you could email over?? If so just drop an email to cheekysmile79@hotmail.co.uk David
