Wee Jock Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Does anyone have mini air skoops installed on their cars? If so can you tell me, are they prone to sucking in water when it rains effecting engine performance? cheers wee jock
tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Vic used to have mini scoops on his Sti 1 and he never had any problems with water getting in the engine bay although I think he did have a small mesh plate on the one over the induction kit . Hope this helps Tony

tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Just spoken to someone else who has them, he says that during wet and foggy weather the air tempreture drops increasing power so is actually a benifit in some cases, I think it can only be a good thing if they are directing cold air flow directly onto the induction kit[]
Wee Jock Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 My only concern is the water getting on to the air filter and being sucked into the mixture! Earlier this week I took the back plate off my dummy vent over the air filter, went for a car wash today and hey presto, water into the induction system and lets just say it didnt run too well until the filter dried out! My car has been mapped recently and I am not gtting as much air into the system as is possible so I thought the bonnet skoop over the air filter would be a good mod!
